What’s a great small to medium (50-200) startup with strong focus on company culture, diversity and equity?
Thinking about moving to a big city with the following preferences. I am thinking about Dallas, philly, or Chicago. What’s your experience living in those cities? Is there any other city I am missing? 1. Growing economy and population 2. Great food scene and things to do as a young professional 3. Relative LCOL can’t afford housing in NY, SoCal, etc. 4. Diversity of culture especially a bigger Chinese presence
This question is not gender related, yet I don’t want to be ‘mansplained’ to, hence asking here ;) it’s related to taxable income at Deloitte...
There are still gender imbalances in promotions. I think we should do what France does and issue fines for unjust promotions. See link
Great equity and inclusion resource from Cal State Long Beach. http://web.csulb.edu/divisions/students/documents/2020_Equity_Resource_Guide_ADA.pdf
We spout gender equality, but often ask women to do things men don't get asked to do. From organizing lunches/events at work (pre-Rona), to babysitting our siblings because we are girls with motherly insticts. It is generally expected that women do certain things that are "for the good of the community" which is just unpaid work for no praise. Let's change this. Let's start the change at home and it will translate elsewhere If you won't ask your son to do it, don't ask your daughter to do it.

After the whole diversity and inclusion push from my firm, I decided to try to create a Jewish group especially given all the anti semitism in the world. I sent an email to HR in beginning of august. It’s now almost September and no response (this includes multiple follow ups). They say it usually take 1-2 days to respond to emails. Hypocrisy?
Best consulting firms for real inclusion?
Companies need to not dilute diversity with this whole diversity of thought jibberish - there are real issues re: bias, race, gender and respect in the workplace. Education around how to build better
There’s been a rise in Diversity equity and inclusion trainings. My experience with these has always been terrible. How has your experience been? Anyone have good experiences? If yours has been terrible too, what should they have done differently?
Is there a way to find out the gender of the baby if I am still in my early 1st trimester? Like heart beat, my reaction to food, haha... an impatient mom...
Let's talk about diversity and recruiting. I'll go first. I've had unconscious bias training and it helped me a lot. It taught me how to look a little harder at portfolios of candidates who may- con't
Inclusion question. I am not sure what gender pronouns my barber prefers. This person appears to be a male (full beard, deep voice, etc.). I’ve noticed that the Google reviews reference this person as a female and when I called the shop to ask for my barber - the person who picked up also used a female pronoun. Barber has never corrected me when I refer to them as a man… I want to be inclusive and respect their identity. How can do this respectfully?
What worked particularly well in your firm’s Asian diversity teams? And what seemed like a good idea but has only marginal impact in the end?
Any LGBT consultants care to share about their work experience? Being LGBT is awkward to me as I feel the lack of diversity but it's also not common to talk about.
I absolutely hate that HR essentially forces me to attend diversity workshops on how to be a successful Hispanic. Efforts should be focused not on race but economic background... am I the only one?
Tryin to see which companies are gay-friendly. How’s your company giving importance to diversity and inclusion nowadays?
Guys/Gals/Other Non-gender conforming groups of people, take care of yourselves. We are all stressed and worried about our jobs, life, family, friends. Make an effort to take sometime for yourself
Eye-opening article about how the current political and social atmosphere is not something acute - it has been brewing for decades. I find it interesting the link between men and women’s voting patterns throughout the decades. Thoughts? https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/10/2020-polls-gender-gap-women-voters-trump.html?campaign_id=9&emc=edit_nn_20201022&instance_id=23369&nl=the-morning®i_id=86946542§ion_index=1§ion_name=big_story&segment_id=41854&te=1&user_id=1c88578d14824bf0c7cb9788ec43ffa1
Ladies who make more money than your partner - did it change them? Just got a new job & now I make substantially more than my husband. He has been 100% thrilled & supportive but funny because before he was very aloof about work. Now he is trying SO MUCH harder. He started dressing professionally, has been volunteering for more projects, and schmoozes with his bosses. I feel like he secretly feels a little competitive and is trying to get a promotion too (which is great!!) but it’s def a shift

Leaving a T2 for MBB and about to submit notice, what should I say if they ask where I’m going? I’m thinking better to avoid sharing that I’m going to a competitor, esp since I technically owe a prorated portion of my sign-on bonus
