I honestly don't know why people are telling you not to pursue the exam instead of a answering your question.
I'd recommend first visiting the State Board website as that will provide a great resource for what you are wanting to accomplish.
Also, I reccomend reaching out to both your firms Learning & Development department and your University's accounting department as they can provide you with the information you need.
Lastly, congrats on pursuing the Exam that you choose and I have no doubt you will pass!
Yes, the doubters & underminers exist everywhere.
Pick a different career path
Community college maybe? But why do you want to do this
Yes - because engineering and tax law have a lot of crossover. And audit standards. And GAAP.
Look into getting your license in Illinois. It is the most lax with requirements and will work the most with you.
It has one of the more lax policies for the CPA work requirements. I have a friend who never worked in public accounting, true accounting role and was able to get it. Which would help an engineer to know.

Don’t do this
Ugh no need really. It won't help your career path so why spend the money on the classes and licensure? Not to mention the CPEs. UGH I have a headache just thinking about it.

Is this about engineering exams? Keep pushing for those. You’re going to find yourself in a similar boat with the cpa exams.

Are you aware of the 80 hours of learning requirement every 2 years to maintain the license? To me that’s the main issue even if you manage to qualify and then pass the tests. The continuing learning can become expensive once you leave PA and if your next employer doesn’t cover that cost.
120 credits it seems: Colorado, New Hampshire and Vermont. And possibly these states don't require an accounting degree for a CPA license: Hawaii, Maine, Alaska, Massachusetts, and Georgia.
Say you’re Indian without saying you’re Indian. I am saying this as I am an Indian.
Why..
For what it’s worth, there are a ton of people that don’t have a CPA or have another certification relevant to their sub service line. For example, any principal is a non-CPA. I wouldn’t do it out of obligation if it isn’t something you’re going to use… no one really cares at the big 4 lol (coming from an accounting major with CPA)

Either way it’s at least 3-4 more years of school to get to 150 accounting credits
How is it working in Audit right now? And did you consider their MS in Taxation?
OP - not clear if you want to be in a CPA type field or engineering?
