Sticking around for pension is like taking a flight to eat Biscoff cookies!!

likefunny

Biscoff cookies are pretty great though, so I would be on that flight sometimes ✈️

Pension? Don’t stick around for the pension. It’s peanuts

6 weeks is not enough time for a real assessment. There are so many resources available to you, do some networking and find something else internally.

… What lie did they tell you about the pension??? You know for most employees it’s max $200-300 / month upon retirement?

Who gets a pension after 3 years????

like

My EY one is at 17k. While not huge, it's projected to be another 600 of supplemental income later in life. KPMG one is peanuts, but it's a second one so there's that. Both are after three years. I don't plan on living long enough to collect anyway due to being in this line of work. 😂

I’d love to hear why you are hating your 6 weeks at Deloitte.

I see Deloitte is hiring any one on the street nowadays.

If you are there just for money then you need to look for another job .. unless you love what you are doing it’s not possible to survive long term.. I joined ZS recently as a partner and I love the culture and work .. I can definitely see a long term potential if I am able to survive the demands of the job .. net net ..you need to get in a firm that you love working for

OP what group are you in? Do you want to stay in consulting long term?

Staying 3 years isn’t bad but your goal shouldn’t be the pension.

Anyone can do something for 2-3 years.

What part of the job/firm do you hate? Most of us haters complain because we have stayed long enough to see our peers exceed us in comp and/or progression. Hating Deloitte in 6 weeks is not common unless it’s really consulting expectations is what you hate.

In my experience it was very cut throat. People trying to tear other people down, backstabbing, gaslighting, etc. even (and especially) from project leadership. I left after 2 years.

It really doesn’t get better

I wish i could tell you it gets better, but ... hoping you roll onto your next project with great ppl, then it's bearable. Also, D match and pension aren't that great, so if you're super miserable, never hirts to see what's out there

I am currently working as Senior Consultant in my current firm and just got an offer from Deloitte UK and Version1 for HCM Cloud practice. Version1 pays more (75k basic + quarterly profit share) and has good employee centric policies where else Deloitte has 60k basic + 5100 in flex benefits and no clarity on bonus. The only reason why I wanted Deloitte was for the exposure but is it really worth it? Considering the work life balance may not be as great here as well. Will appreciate any help
