Ok…I’m curious. I pretty much have to beg, barter and steal to get supplies for my classroom. Do teachers in states with legal cannabis have this problem? It’s my understanding that sales tax from its purchase goes to schools, or is that all smoke and mirrors…No pun intended. 😉
My daughter just attended a new teacher workshop at a ROE. A Superintendent presented (not hers) and told this room full of new teachers, “Real teachers get to school at 7:00 am and go home at 8:00 pm.” Really?? As a veteran teacher of 26 years, I was appalled! Makes sense why new teachers are leaving the classroom in their first five years and why we have a teacher shortage in Illinois with those type of expectations.
On Monday, we'll have like an hour to go into our classrooms to get anything we need to start making lessons for distance learning. what do i need?
So, what if your kid is in a 6 person Montessori class with no interaction outside of their “pod”, serious disinfection and prevention practices and all the other parents are super socially conscious and aware. 2 teachers per classroom and no infections during summer school on campus. Yay or nay?
We started state testing today with my kiddos taking their FSA Writing. It is the first time I have seen them in school as they are a digital class, and such an amazing experience to see them together as they talked amongst themselves before we went to the classroom to test. You can see how much they miss being together. ❤
Hi All! I hope you guys are staying safe and healthy. I am hosting a free workshop for teachers that I thought might benefit you. The workshop is called From Unsettled to Prepared Classroom. I am giving you the tools you need to feel organized and ready for this upcoming school year. There is so much that is still uncertain and it can be super daunting to start to plan for a year like this one. You can sign up here: https://adva-hanan.mykajabi.com/pl/192080
Just went from 5th to 2nd and would love to know classroom management ideas. Anything to stay away from? Thanks!
Teachers, how long do you think it would take you to get back into the groove of teaching once all students return to the classroom?
We just started using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System in our programs to measure quality of interactions and lesson plans. I think it's been one of the most meaningful tools for providing feedback to teachers.
My school is considering doing away with teacher desks to save classroom space. Thoughts?
As an interventionist, I work with many grade levels and students. Looking for the best way to document data and information along with how to share the information with classroom teachers & parents.
Has anyone ever had a student in their classroom who became very sick part way through the school year? What did you do to show support as a teacher/school community?
Someone could talk about STEAM? activities and how to use this kind of learning in the classroom.
I’m looking at the possibility of using Book Taco in my classroom. Has anyone used it? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
How do you decorate a high school special education classroom? What are helpful resources on the wall for students?
Am I the only teacher who doesn’t have family or friends willing to help with their classroom? I’ve moved rooms every year for the last 5 years and I have a large family and lot of friends, but no one is ever willing to help. I told my mom today that it really hurts my feelings, as she declined my request to help as she simultaneously asked ME to help do something for my sister’s house. I explained I’m always there when people need me, but I feel let down when I’m in need. Anyone else?
Does anybody incorporate SAT/ACT vocabulary and question stems in their classes? How does SAT prep look like in your classroom?
Are bitmoji classrooms just for google classroom or can you use them in a different platform, too?
I’m trying to transition to finance and have a potential pricing analyst position at a top well known company. Would this be a good opportunity to take as I am trying to get into a fp&a role?
Starting at Accenture next week and wondering if there are any options to expense work from home stuff equipment as monitors? Thanks!
How do you handle keeping the kids at home and both parents WFH? Do you take turns? Specifically, do you explain to your teams that babies need tending to throughout the day?
it feels like every survey about working from home is (poorly) designed to answer the useless question "would you rather work from home or from the office." I submit that the set of people who prefers to have only one of those two options, always and forever, is the null set. which means it DOES NOT MATTER because the correct answer is always going to be "make both possible." you're welcome, HR departments everywhere.
Isn’t a significant portion of airlines and hotels revenue from corporate travel? Would they be able to survive, if consulting firms adopt a limited-travel model forever?
Frontier Airlines $38 one way tickets: 👍 or 👎?
For those who do not have a nanny or childcare but are still working, how are your days structured? Is this doable? Moving to suburbs and looking to enroll our kid in a toddler program in June. Our nanny can’t come to the suburbs so thinking about going 6 months without childcare.
For over 15 years I held customer support roles in a variety of industries. At the same time developing skills in other areas; such as being ordained as a Zen priest and receiving an Integral Coach certification. After being laid off in May, I decided to pursue my coaching business full time. My question is, for those who have sought out coaching, which area of your life did you focus on first and why?
I posted this in the consulting exit ops bowl but figured it might be of interest here too. I'm launching a weekly newsletter that includes interesting exit opportunities for consultants, bankers, etc. across PE, VC, strat/biz ops, finance, and product plus helpful tips, Q&A, advice, etc. on successfully navigating the job search (I used to be a recruiter). Would love for anyone interested to subscribe! Here's the link: exitup.substack.com
As head of a division in industry, we work a lot with vendors. Increasingly I am noticing that men working at vendor firms have offer resistance when I ask for more details/invoice timings etc. I recently had a partner from a mid size firm telling me that he will be sending the invoice without phase completion. Ofcourse, I pushed back since the work is not done and it's not per contract, and he comes back asking me to be flexible. I am ex MBB, and am quite surprised at this attitude. Cont...
Looking to break into big tech (FAANG, etc.) from GPS consulting. Is there anything I can do while in GPS to make myself a good candidate or is the solution just go to commercial and/or get an MBA?
Any ideas to improve remote workplace culture?
Ladies, I love facials and massages but can’t justify a full-blown spa trip even though I’d love one (2022 or whenever Covid threat is minuscule). How did you consider the cost? Are there R&R trips out there with this kind of pampering that won’t break the bank?
Anyone exit to Apple for a Global Supply Manager role? If so, what are your thoughts? Still a lot of travel? Culture? Work/life balance? Commute? Etc etc tell me everything!
Do you feel like you have to trade between good culture and comp, or do they typically go together in your experience?
Just imagine if your bonus in PA was a % of your total hours charged at market rate... can only dream.
So umm whose’s going to tell him? Also not surprised over half the people in this pic have caught COVID.
