I cried today for the first time in 20 years. When is the last time you cried, how old are you, what is your gender, and why?

I'm sorry this is terrible. I'm similar age and close with my brother. if he passed I'd be a wreck for a long time. it's ok to grieve, it's ok to cry, it's okay to scream it's okay to do all of these and whatever works for you

2 days, 45, F - cried with laughter over a very funny incident with a friend’s 2 year old son and my spinner suitcase. He pushed it down their long winding driveway and it tumbled into a ditch and hit a tree, stopping just short of a pond. It was absolutely adorable and felt so good to cry laughing. 6 weeks ago out of job & client frustration. I still have PTSD over the client experience and I’m happily nursing my wounds at a new client. They were critical, passive aggressive, short-tempered, accusatory, and negative. They would raise voices and yell in meetings. It was a tough experience and took a lot out of me from a wellness and confidence perspective.

like

*hugs* I don't think people either realize or care that we experience PTSD from client projects. But it happens and it's a regular occurrence. Sometimes it's also the location of the client site that negatively affects us as well. for example I hate having to go to clients in the deep South because I have to deal with passive aggressive southern judgemental clients who use snide comments

A year ago today, 49, F. It was exactly a year ago when I was leaving from a visit with my 93 year old mum - not sure when or if I will get to hug her again. That was the last time I saw able to see her in person, but we WhatsApp video chat every weekend.

5 minutes ago, 52, M. realizing I can't leave an imprint of my heel on someone's forehead at the client. He's an ass, regularly questioned my competence in order to get in the way of me even doing my job at all, much less well. they all know how he is, but they let him get away with his bullying ways anyway

last time I cried was when it became clear my father was going to pass. Took us all by surprise. He left us just a couple weeks after being diagnosed, but thankfully we brought him home to our care the last ~2 days so that he can be around family. I was 40, that was 4 yrs ago. Male.

41, F: Yesterday morning at my desk—weeks of putting up with passive aggressive insults and behavior from someone on the team got to me. And then cried laughing later that day when I vented to my best friends and they spent the afternoon making and sending me memes about the jerk on the project team.

59, F. 1 day ago. Read a story from a mother who lost her child of 8 years to cancer. Very emotional read

M, 49. Cried at all my grandparents’ funerals (in my mid to late 30s). Cried a number of times when I was coming out to close family members and a few times in therapy for this same topic (also in my 30s). Came close to crying when my first consulting client offboarded my whole team, shortly after changing careers and moving to a new city to enter consulting (at 40) but I stopped short of it...career stuff pales compared to the emotions of living life.

When I watch One Piece usually. So often :)

Four days ago at church. 44m just so thankful that even a sinner like me can be forgiven.

I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.

is it a red flag to you if your decently sized mid law firm has never once mentioned pro bono opportunities? we don’t have any kind of diversity initiative either and obviously i know how i feel about THAT. but was wondering how weird this part of it is.
