Been using Fidelity as my bank for about 2 years and absolutely loving it

smart

I have been using Fidelity for the past 10 years for all my banking. I do also work there which helps navigating all the offerings.
I am curious though, other than the need to make cash deposits what is the benefit of using a traditional bank vs. holding everything at a brokerage firm?

smart

Check to see if where you have your investment accounts offer banking services. It makes it so much easier and quicker on the customer end to transfer and invest funds immediately. For example, Bank of America/Merrill, Fidelity, Schwab, JPM.

Where are you located?

What are you trying to optimize? What banking products do you use?

Hi! Wanted to get thoughts from those who have exited to a startup from MBB/T2. Have an offer from a series C start up — would take ~$20k base cut but with bonus (annually) would make about 25k more TC plus RSUs. Much better WLB and great people. Is the base cut normal? Thoughts?

UK Citizen based in Italy and looking to move in a Sales role ideally within SaaS in Tech, Fintech or Telco.

Experience in Ops & CS Management within VC backed start-ups, but fairly new to outbound sales.

Looking for a fully remote role and would love a referral.

Must ideally be in the CET timezone but I can be flexible with some overlap.

Anyone know for something?

My company is in need of a update online, could use your opinions! We need to better showcase our culture (caring, supportive, fun, intelligent IT industry leaders) as well as diversity. We are predominantly white still but making strides to improve here. What’s the best way to approach? I don’t want to seem disingenuous or that we are singling out our diverse employees (asking for photos). We have a remote and on-site workforce about 350+ EEs. Non white EEs make up about 35% of the company rn.

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

Additional Posts in FIRE Financial Independence Retire Early

I’m buying a home! It’s a little tight but here is my monthly cost breakdown ($9k/mo take home):

$3k mortgage
$500 for 15 months for new floors
$210 for 12 months for roof repairs
$300 groceries ($75/week)
$100 eating out
$150 estimated utilities
= $4260

Leftover = $4740

Investment Allocation:
$2k in HYSA
$2.2k in VTI
$540 leftover just in case

Is this a good budget to stick to? Also I may be able to subtract $800-$900 because I’m planning on renting out a room!

I heard someone make a bold statement that contributing to a traditional 401k versus a Roth 401k were the exact same assuming the same tax rate. I ran the numbers and to my surprise they were not wrong (even considering the earnings). Always been a fan of FIRE and reading about it has definitely helped my finances but I can’t help but wonder if the movement is more about lifestyle change than early retirement.

After you achieve FI,you basically have to maintain the lifestyle that got you there.

What if you want to go on a lavish vacation or buy that flatscreen TV? Are you supposed to do away with material goods entirely? I suppose you could keep working for discretionary $ and live off interest but then you’re not retired.
