Most temp positions don’t come with benefits like maternity leave.

If you don’t have maternity leave, then next question is whether you would financially be OK taking unpaid leave. If so, great, that maximizes your options. Doesn’t mean you can’t still search for a job with benefits, but at least you know you’d be OK either way.

You and your husband are already a family. You are planning to have kids.

You’re absolutely right :)

Is 50% commission a good “salary”? Just received an offer with the following details: - 50% commission. Stepwise increase by 5% for every $5k per month (e.g., 50% of first $5k, 55% of next $5k, etc) (Resets every month) - treated as independent contractor - no health insurance, no 401k - no hour requirement, WFH option, flexible hours - they cover bar dues, CLEs I feel like 50% is very high. Obviously being an independent contractor costs me a bit more, but does this look like a decent deal?

Does anyone think living expense/capitalism is going to fix itself any time soon? I make over 100k a year and I'm still living pay check to pay check. I feel like I'm worse off right now than I was when I was in college and I don't have any debt right now...

I recently accepted a job offer with another bank. They’re offering me $12,500 more than I’m making now, better benefits, and flexibility. However, the new head of my department is trying to counter by making me a VP, giving me $5000 more than the company I said yes to would, and moving me from my current manager and having me report directly to him. Should I accept? I’m so conflicted.

What should go in a job offer letter? My job was just verbal but we’re hiring and the solo managing attorney just repeats that he trusts me. I’m thinking start date, salary, benefits (stipend for health ins and 401(K) match), billable hour requirement, and vacation policy. Missing anything? Also, as background, this is a JD graduate that postponed the July bar exam to Feb. Eligible as a Certified Limited Practice Graduate under supervision. So there’ll be a salary bump upon full licensure.

Has anyone switched jobs while pregnant (ideally Canadian but open to chat to anyone!). Would love to hear your experience in doing so, how it was received, etc. If all goes smoothly over the next two weeks...By the time I start, I'll have about 5 months before I go on maternity leave and I'd like to take my full 1 year leave. Very nervous about telling the company.

I'm trying to compare the perks and benefits of leadership positions at the four big CRE firms; JLL, Cushman Wakefield, CBRE and Colliers. Can anyone comment on any perks or benefits they get at the companies I don't work for? I'm thinking company swag, travel to conferences or to meet with clients, leadership retreats, nice offices, vehicles, clothing allowances etc. Curious if there are any benefits to being a leader at any of the other firms. Thanks
