I currently work a temporary position with the federal gov. My husband and I have been thinking about starting a family soon. I’m concerned maternity leave may not be on the table due to the “time limited appointment”. The confusion is people’s time limited appointments keep getting extended and some have been there for 1+ year. I’m concerned about the scenario where we get pregnant and then my appointment ends… I’m also nervous about how job hopping will look because I just started in June.

Is 50% commission a good “salary”? Just received an offer with the following details: - 50% commission. Stepwise increase by 5% for every $5k per month (e.g., 50% of first $5k, 55% of next $5k, etc) (Resets every month) - treated as independent contractor - no health insurance, no 401k - no hour requirement, WFH option, flexible hours - they cover bar dues, CLEs I feel like 50% is very high. Obviously being an independent contractor costs me a bit more, but does this look like a decent deal?

I recently accepted a job offer with another bank. They’re offering me $12,500 more than I’m making now, better benefits, and flexibility. However, the new head of my department is trying to counter by making me a VP, giving me $5000 more than the company I said yes to would, and moving me from my current manager and having me report directly to him. What should go in a job offer letter? My job was just verbal but we’re hiring and the solo managing attorney just repeats that he trusts me.
