Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Ask for a 20% salary increase from the offer and find out whether the healthcare company also matches 401k. If it’s a good healthcare company then it should come with good benefits as well.
Thanks for your response! I was aiming to ask for a 20% increase as well! They’ve temporarily discontinued their matching program due to Covid so that’s a downside for now.
Can't hurt to try to negotiate
You can definitely attempt to negotiate. Although you are tired of your current job, it sounds like you would be losing a lot. I encourage you to think long-term.
