It's a great move. I came to EY as a senior 2 from a regional firm - thought I'd stay a year or two til manager and leave. Ending up really liking the flexibility and different opportunities. Once I had kids the flexibility can't be beat. Most don't realize that - it's totally different in private. I am now a partner and looking back it was the best decision I ever made career wise.
Yep, did it myself. It was a great decision for me.
Yeah, it would be counter-intuitive but if it comes with more money and same if not better career progression then I don't really care. I just feel shafted salary wise and client wise here
Yes I went from regional firm to startup. Then back to public accounting with big 4
For sure. So many people quit from big four that they are always taking experienced staff. Link up with a current big four employee and share in the referral bonus.
The opposite direction. Was just curious on everyone's tboufhts
*thoughts
I came from independent contracting, so don't see why you would have any issues from mid-size. Big 4 just doesn't hire as many experienced hires than they do college hires unless it's a higher position.
I have 3 years experience and just got senior (firm has an unwritten rule that you only get promoted after 3 years even though you are doing senior work after the first year), so I think hat would qualify as a higher job.
You might have to start at associate. I had to go down a level when I started, but I still got more money so I didn't care much.
Yes I had a senior that is from a small regional firm. At EY I'm sure you would remain a senior.
I went from top 20 to big 4.
