(24M) Help on finding a career path ?
I graduated from Boston University with a degree in comm w/ a concentration in advertising. Ive been in the industry for almost a year as a media planner, and have generally enjoyed it. My biggest issue though is the money. I didn’t go into the field expecting to get rich, but it would be nice to not live in poverty...Im considering going back to school to get an MBA in marketing as I feel this will complement my work experience and UG degree. Here’s a tip: if you’re stuck on any idea/job/whatever, write headlines. Even if the job doesn’t call for them, write headlines. Makes insights come quicker and ideas flow like water.
Write more headlines.
I love the style of this.

Tax counsel jobs seem to be rare, compared to the more common tax senior analyst/manager/director roles. Anyone have any insight into compensation and whether companies put a premium on JDs? Looking at HCOL areas for 5-8 yrs of exp and want to understand reasonable salary bands.
Do any of you have experience with pushy coworkers? The kind who won't let you do anything without them "helping" even after you say "I've got this"? I can handle stocking the shelves by myself. So frustrating

What's your advice for someone wanting to shift from client management to brand side marketing? Would love any recommendations you have
Who else feels like when they go on an interview and mention that they want good WLB it’s an immediate turn-off for the interviewer? Shows how terrible work culture in the US really is.
I work in-house on a media team for a B2B organization and I’m the only person on my team who deeply understands media. Two new hires who I had zero say around hiring have both asked me basic media questions (how programmatic works, media mix and how we work with vendors). My boss has ZERO media experience and is more of a bottle neck than anything else. I’m venting here but I’m wondering if other in-house media folks have experienced this and how do you navigate it?
I'm being forced to write copy and make a social media calendar for my company suddenly after a bunch of consultants took over.
I understand everything is a learning curve but it's high time they hire resources.
Pointing my copy mistakes all the time won't help a multi million $ company.
Is there a way to explain this professionally that my forte is design and not social media management.
They want two weeks content in advance sure I can visualize moodboard and
I’m a senior copywriter looking to go in-house. Open to senior roles or the next level up. Mostly big-agency experience so far. Off paper, I have several hobbies that mean a lot to me, plus skills that keep me creative and interesting outside of work. Let me know if you’re hiring or know a company that is, please!
The thing I’m most surprised by: brand side still does a lot of client shaming from what I’ve seen.
I’m a creative account manager working on the Brand side in house. I’ve been doing Brand for 3 months. The Brand area of my company is going to be expanding and I already have a lot of work on my plate.
I want to leave/find another company but with the amount of cool working coming in & seemingly the amount of people trying to break into Brand work, how long should I try to stick it out at my current company?
So many companies these days are operating their cultures like cults so people don’t get paid what they’re worth.
From Design Lead to Design Ops?
Has anyone moved from being a design lead to design ops? I have always loved helping steward a team and mentoring individuals, but I’m burnt out on day to day design. I don’t want to be limited to design and want to move to a new kind of challenge.
I am aware that this comes with some learning and personal and professional investment, so I’m not afraid to pivot in that sense.
Any artists working on brand side or agency?looking to meet them. Artists who create Art outside work (painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, video/animated art..) The reason I am posting here is because such artists are often not mainstream so discovering them is more word of mouth. Planning MvVO ART/ AD ART SHOW 2023. After all Warhol was an Illustrator , Magritte a Graphic Designer and Hopper an Art Director. No deadlines , no rush...maybe you are an artist or know one.
One department head thinks I’m trying to get their job - the other department head is rude af - has anyone felt this? Is paranoia the norm? I’m exhausted.
Quit my job at Victoria’s Secret about a week before the Hulu doc came out connecting Les Wexler with Epstein. I watched the whole thing and I’m furious I worked for them. When I was hired there, I was under the impression things were really turning around and going to be positive. There was a total lack of culture and employees are treated awful. I asked a coworker about the documentary last week and was told we’re not allowed to talk about it. Couldn’t be more excited to go back to an agency.
A competitor recently started using some visual elements that are heavily incorporated in our new company branding (new as in two years). While I am flattered that they like those elements, it seems like an effort to create confusion with customers and prospects. I am assuming it is best to stay the course, but wondering how others have handled this type of situation.
Is your company hiring in Marketing? I’m in Los Angeles, California and I’m open to remote or in-office. Interested in brand manger, marketing manager or digital marketing manager positions. Would you be willing to give a referral?
Looking for advice on starting off on the right foot with new leadership, surviving any headcount shakeups, and positioning myself well to be seen as an asset. Just got news my current boss is leaving and a new CMO starts reeeeal soon. What info should I have on-hand? What should I tell them? What should I ask them? What should I avoid at all costs?
Does anyone know if Yellow Shoes (Disney’s in-house marketing agency) offers remote roles (or roles in Chicago)?
I’ve seen one role posted on job search sites as being located in Chicago, Chicago suburbs, and Glendale, CA, and on the Disney site itself it’s listed as being in Celebration, FL and am not sure what to make of it.
I’m currently at an agency and am pretty sure I want to go brand side. My experience is in health/CPG, so I’m interested in CPG companies (ABM roles - I don’t have a MBA so I realize that may be difficult), traditional tech companies (Amazon, FB etc.) and telehealth/health and wellness start-ups (one medical, roman, billie). Would anyone be willing to do a call with me? I’m really just looking to learn more right now - I’m happy at agency but want to start networking.
