I went from CPG to Financial Services and it's definitely slower/less demanding than CPG. Was also in Telcommunications which was faster (plan by quarter vs annual) but more tactical/less strategic. Also depends there is some nuance to which part of CPG you're coming from, I found food was the most fast paced/demanding but felt that personal care was less so (was on infant care and feminine hygiene).
Thank you, this is great insight! I currently work in Food which feels quite fast paced since we're constantly pivoting direction.
I work in retail (convenience) and some things are faster (promos, the ability to measure, data overall) but overall the planning cycles are the same. Since we have more ownership over the final experience than a CPG brand, we can pivot faster. When I was agency side, I’d say my Pharma clients probably moved fastest.
