“A child really isn’ that expensive in the first 3-4 years” ~ Spouse 7 months ago. Our bank account after 7 months of pregnancy says otherwise. I’m excited to be a father and I want to be a good father, but there is zero chance this child is going to remember or even care what decorations we chose for the nursery. Advice on picking battles over expenditures for a future child?
I'm a first year analyst and a little fearful of the travel schedule I'll have to adopt in the coming months. From those more seasoned than myself... what are some tips or best practices to deal with the travel?
I know this topic has come up before but am asking a slightly different question. We have always talked about 3 kids. I discovered I was pregnant with kid 2 the week my city went into lockdown last spring. Entire pregnancy and first 9 months of 2’s life has been Covid. It has been such a vulnerable scary time and I don’t want to be that vulnerable again. I am vaxxed and it’s more about not wanting to be reliant on the medical system vs Covid specifically. Will I regret not going for 3?
Help! My 18 month old has suddenly stopped napping. Yesterday I tried to make him cry it out and he screamed in his crib for almost an hour. WHAT IS HAPPENING?? Tell me this is a phase! My sweet baby has turned into a terrorist monster.
How many people changed careers or wanted to change careers as soon as you returned from maternity leave? You or people you know? I couldn’t care less about advertising right now.
Hello! Any advice for a soon to be first time mom? I read somewhere that we need to take four months of maternity leave before the baby is due. Is that true? Going to reach out to PML soon and then HR. Thanks!
If a company's policy is 1 yr of employment before an employee can take paid parental leave, could a candidate negotiate for earlier parental leave (if needed) - say they know they will need to be out 3 mos into their employment. Does this put the company at risk?
I have the biggest, most passive-aggressive, man-baby of a GCD. Sorry, just needed to vent.
Did anyone take a break from work after having baby? I am going though a very difficult situation with my depression (not just PPD, there is another reason to it), tried hanging in there. Cont’d
Anyone ever negotiated parental leave before? I have an offer on the table. Gave me what I asked for $ wise and PTO. But mat leave is not great. Not trying to have a baby now, but in the next 5 yrs.
What is the federal parental leave policy? I’m new to government and having a baby soon. I know we’re given 12 weeks and have to sign an agreement to work 12 weeks after we return but are there other stipulations to a claw back period or how long we had to be at the agency first?
Not nearly enough messages. Was a senior when I had a kid...so nice of KPMG to NOT tell me the way to properly submit for parental leave back in the day.
Just found out I’m pregnant (only 5 weeks so still a bit to go before I tell anyone really). After I’m farther along and everything is confirmed with doctors, when do I start telling people at work? Due in mid May.
What is your firm's parental leave policy?
First Facebook offer 4 months paid parental leave, now Deloitte. Respect! 👍👍👍 We need more firms doing that!
So a friend of mine invited a teacher to “hang out” with their student/child outside contracted hours on a weekend. Call me crazy but I think that’s a lil out of line. Teachers have lives outside of your children.
The most haunting things this Halloween are the Microsoft Teams pings I hear in my sleep.
Just checked in for a flight tomorrow AM. Slowly feeling like the pre-COVID version of myself
What is the best credit card I should open? I currently just have a costco citi credit card and MasterCard debit card.
If you have just 1 day to prepare for an interview (LMM firm in healthcare/life sciences), how would you prepare? Reasonably comfortable with an LBO model but have not prepared at all for the whole process.
How would you design an intern program for a project with a long onramp and few low-hanging fruit?
What all-in $$$ package is reasonable for an analyst type role at a small PE firm in NYC after ~3 yrs in MBB consulting without previous industry experience?
Exited to an amazing 🦄 in Los Angeles with also an office in Atlanta. Our strategy team has 6 open roles that we are looking to fill. We have amazing culture and free lunch everyday. Message me!
It’s well known that the difference in work culture in Europe vs US is quite different. Can you comment on some of the differences when it comes to work/life balance, competitiveness, client dynamics
B4 strategy or general 🐠, would love your advice. Currently, 2 YOE at a well known non B4 firm doing PI/Transformation work. I didn’t get promoted this year because I didn’t have enough experience in my particular group because I was staffed on a different project for awhile. I’m interested in Strategy analyst roles (1 YOE). Will me not being promoted hurt my chances? I’ll probably get promoted at the beginning of 2022. Should I wait until then to apply? Thanks. Deloitte EY PwC
Anyone been to Disneyland lately? Are there still long lines? My wife and I have been under a rock staying at home due to covid and having a newborn at home and being extra safe, but I wanted to take my wife to Disneyland for Halloween. Is it relatively covid safe there?
I'm about to interview for a VP position at a startup but have never managed before. Is it smart, as a Black woman, to ask directly about support for mangers (ie supporting me is one of my reports didn't want to listen to me, etc)? Or maybe I can ask but very vaguely and indirectly? This is a 2nd (3rd, 4th & 5th over the course of the next 2 days) interview that includes the founders of the company.
Which non-SWE roles are worth it at FAANG in terms of pay? Will any pay better than MBB?
Considering move from B4 to ACN, with sales experience and managing team of 10+ team under belt. Expect M Or SM at ACN?
Staff and seniors without your CPA, what's the number one reason why you don't have your license and what's the number one thing your firm could offer you to get it? Especially interested in those at big four where the incentive already includes the cost of study materials, four exam fees, application fee, and a $5000/$3000 bonus if passed in 1 or 2 years from joining. Bigger bonus (name your price)? Greater position on the team? More PTO? Exam fee forgiveness if you fail an exam? Etc?
What's the deal with manual expenses ? I had a few this week because my amex card was missing. Is it okay to report them ? What is the policy about manual expenses anyway ?
Big4: at the same seniority, is total comp higher in management consulting or corporate finance? Specifically at the senior consultant / associate level MC doesn't get bonuses at my firm, but cf do.
In Tech at D. Over my past 4 projects they seem to really burn us into the ground overwork us. Is that just my bad experience? Other Big 4 have a similar issue?
