Do it online. I heard you can go to Germany and check out the car

The European delivery program ended in 2020

I thought bmw got rid of their European delivery option?

Online configuration, choose all options, European delivery, sign paperwork with a dealer of your choice, fly to Munich and pick up your wheels, receive back in the US 6 weeks later.
What model you going with??

I stand corrected, BMW no longer does the European delivery for US customers—such a bummer.
US m340 xdrives are actually made in Mexico now.

Update: I’m in NYC btw

It’s actually pretty simple. Go to the usual forums and look for the sub forum of your car. You can find competitive pricing and the dealers that will honor it pretty quickly. Almost every brand will have dealers that focus on high-volume, low margin business with no bullshit. I bought a M3 from WideWorld BMW back in 2017 that way (~10% below MSRP I think) and a Wrangler just now at 8% below.

Alternatively I can recommend Tom McParland’s AutoMatch consulting. Won’t necessarily get you a better deal but less hassle.

Join the Facebook book for the car you want and start asking around for the dealers that will sell below invoice. There are always a few dealers nationwide that are working on a volume basis where you can get the best deals. You may have to travel to pick up the car but worth it.

An M car I presume?

Not ready to pay M price

Get on leaaehackr and talk to your local BMW brokers. BMW's current allocations are a complete mess right now so don't expect to get an amazing deal on a car... Especially a custom ord r

My experience with custom orders is more or less the following: Most of the dealers will try to scam you on those. Make it seem like it’s more expensive if you custom order. This is regardless of brand.

Then there are a few dealers who understand that it’s a good business mode to just move custom orders quickly because it minimizes their risk and inventory. They will discount MORE on custom orders - those you wan to find.

P.S.: There’s also the “fire sale” move off the lot type deal that can be better than a custom order but that’s not a thing in this market.

Go with a broker. You will almost always be better off than going directly with a dealer, who is likely to stiff you somewhere along the line

Just pay their fees and they’ll hook you up even if it’s a cash purchase. I’ve not had an issue although the quoted price sometimes changes with the dealer lease cash incentive being taken out. Leasehackr is the bible for finding good dealers.

Going to be in the market soon for a new car (sedan) to replace my old warhorse (2006 Camry). Considering a Lexus ES (both new and very lightly used - less than 10k miles) and Tesla 3 (only new, both in the same range depending on trim and options chosen). Primary factors are:
1- Reliability ; 2- Total Cost of Ownership; 3- Smooth and luxurious ride . Plan to keep car for 15+ years. Any recommendations on one vs the other? Or any other option I may have missed in this price range?

With the ever increasing price of gas and the increasing popularity of EVs how is the electric grid going to support the increased demand? There are already issues throughout the country when people run air conditioners too much how is the grid going to sustain the electric cars needing charged as well? Also isn’t most of the country powered by coal and natural gas plants as well so I question how much better EVs are for the environment? Just genuinely curious.

Tesla owners, I am contemplating an M3, and have a few targeted questions:
1. How is the experience driving in East Coast winters and on slippery roads? How is the battery power drain in winters?
2. If you cannot install the charging station, how did you find the experience with regular charging? I live in a condo so I cannot install.
3. What are your thoughts on service for longer drives / rural areas and how does the lack of spare tire affect your decision?
Please advise on other aspects.
