I’m still trying out different things but what’s worked so far for me is: 1) Turning off all my notifications except the literal phone in case of emergencies (caveat I don’t have kids or other dependents so I can get away with this pretty easily). That alone has helped my usage go down quite a bit bc I’m not getting constant reminders to check things. 2) Joining different clubs and organizations. Some are still only virtual, others allow meetings if all attending members are vaccinated. Either way it gets me to not only be focused on something else during the meetings but also for any relevant work/planning I need to do outside of those as well. And I force myself to have my camera on so that I have to be paying attention during the virtual meetings. Plus it reminds me how much better it is to connect with “real life” instead of just watching others live it through an app 3) Forcing myself to read physical books again. I think this really highlighted how awful my attention span has become and helped motivate me to do better. As a kid I would literally checkout 20ish books from the library each trip and read for fun for hours, even a full day on the weekends. Now if I go 10 minutes I get the urge to check my phone - even with no notifications so I have no reason to want to check it! So I’ve started forcing myself to read for longer periods of time with my phone across the room and I’m beginning to enjoy the mental escape again

I’m going to go this. I miss reading books.

I just temporarily disabled my ig, which cut my overall social media time. I spend more on this app, but less on social media in total (and the time spent on this app is more productive than ig)

like

Set app time limits on your phone. You can bypass them, but you have to consciously decide to do it every 15 minutes. Helps me with my tik tok addiction 🤣

OP, Just curious, what are you focused on? I have found myself reading for several hours each night to find the truth as the MSM and big tech are censoring so much.

Is it just me or have restaurants in the city really become insanely expensive? I feel like going out for a regular dinner (nothing special, no michelin star places or anything fancy) and a drink or two including tax, tip and potentially covid surcharges is now 100 bucks per person. Am I doing something wrong?

I recently began to feel Covid-19 symptoms and decided to get tested (waiting for results). My husband took the rapid and tested positive. I have a pyramid event tomorrow but I feel sick and I have a severe cold. Tickets have been purchased already, I am 100% certain it’s not covid because I took a test already. However, I don’t want to get anyone sick with cold. How do I handle this situation? Is it possible to let them know I can’t attend because of my cold even if the tickets have been purchased? I feel bad.

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist, but am I the only person who thinks the mass publication of the Omicron variant by the media was due to traditionally low viewership during the holidays? It seems like the Media wants to dictate COVID’s trajectory & demise to align with their business strategy. As overall viewership falls in a post-Trump era and waning COVID numbers, big media has to be a little nervous about audience retention.

This is a fact that fans of Trump either chose to ignore or just don’t give a damn. I find it embarrassing that people are enthusiastic about a man that proclaims that he beat it ( with a heavy dose of privilege and tax payers money) and mind numbingly claims that ‘don’t be afraid of covid’ ? This is the reality people that our president don’t like to tweet about

Hello. I’m working on H1B and recently got a promotion. My company is amending my H1B and told me that since my new job is remote I can only work at my apartment (since it’s my legal location). Is there any chance they can figure out I’m working remotely from somewhere else? Also, I’m also in the process of applying for green card (thru employment). Does anyone know the timeline for this given my H1B is getting amended ? (My country has no waiting time).

Looking for some perspective. Any one here ever find out their SO was having an affair or know someone that has gone through that? Did you end up giving them another chance or just end it? How did things turn out? Recently discovered that my spouse had an emotional/physical one during a traveling project in what I thought was a happy marriage. It’s been rough so was interested in hearing other stories/perspectives of people who have been in this situation. Never thought it would happen to me.
