I did a program of 8 months in Graphic & Web design, where I learn all the basics, and two months later, I was able to find work as a junior graphic designer for 3D trophies. Love the work I do, but I still want to improve my skills and polish my portfolio to eventually find extra work. What should I do and where should I go to practice/improve my design & web skills with someone who can give me some feedback?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

My biggest mistake was accepting a promotion to manager, it made me realize that I'm not very good at managing people. Should I ask if I can go back to my old role?

I am presently working as a Research Analyst (MBA 1.5 YoE) with EY GDS and I wish to work in HR or Talent function. What should I do to switch into those roles.

I have joined IBM in July 2022. I haven't got any project till now. Skill set is PySpark, AWS, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, SQL. 2 Project interviews are done and they haven't considered my profile.

How do you guys usually present your portfolio to potential employees?

I got turned down for three mid level design positions. I don’t know if it’s because my last position was as an art director and they’re just confused or if I seem not as enthusiastic about the role as I should be but it’s definitely disheartening because I’m unemployed and I need to get back to work. I have since decided to focus more on senior designer and Art Director roles at a higher rate and will go from there.

So I work as a freelancer for an agency. And I have another client outside of that agency. I work between figma files and sometimes use components across files but change and redesign them to fit the project. My manager in the agency was able to "go to main component" and see my other client's project which included some of the agency's icons (they downloaded them online) and some basic tabs and drop shadows components. I feel busted but I shouldn't but can't get over the embarrassment.

In technical round there was a case study to create visual data sheet and present it to technical round.

I need some thoughts on what to ask for a starting salary. My background is ten years in tech support, and currently Lead Graphic Designer for my department with about four years of graphic design behind that. I also just finished my master's degree in Human Computer Interaction design (and was among the top in my class). I thought $80k as an absolute minimum ask but considering my credentials and education I really don't want to undersell myself. I'd appreciate thoughts on the matter.
