I don’t even know what to say during my job interviews anymore. Do they want my “story” or just how I can make them money...

Your job - any job - is to help other people do their job - which in turn is making somebody somewhere more money. W-w-w-welcome to the working week.

"Anymore?" This is more world-weariness than I think people are used to in a Junior Strategist...

likefunny

Definitely be sure to convey your enthusiasm and eagerness. What people are looking for in a junior strategist is someone who will hustle to find answers and do it with resourcefulness and enthusiasm.

BBDO 1: Well when there’s barely any junior strategy jobs and you’re told that that they’re looking for someone with “traditional social strategist" experience for a junior role, you get pretty knock down

like

OP - I’m sure it’s not you. Agencies often don’t want to take on juniors because they see them as overhead. Which is very non strategic. You can make sure that you list what social platform analytics tools you know how to use. Put those things on your resume. It’s just a hard industry. Mentored someone & she ended up moving to Australia because it was her dream & she was struggling to get something in strategy having come from account. Just keep at it! Try to figure out how knowledge of social applies to broader strategy roles - like an understanding of culture & communities.

SBS 1: whats a good way to show eagerness but also display your knowledge without not coming off as a know it all? Like, I’ve been lucky to work in the marketing agency and do freelance social for a while, and even had a student strategy pitch adopted by a company. I try to show my enthusiasm, but it feels like I’m not up to par or something

Hey all, I know MBB sponsor international candidates but at what stage they look at your visa situation. Do they take into consideration initially before sending you any online assessment test and while reviewing your CV or they look for it after you go through interviews. I had a chat with previous McKinsey consultant and he was like you automatically get cut off from the system if you select 'require visa sponsorship'. Not sure if it is true or not?

When should I start applying to full-time positions if I graduate in December 2022? I currently have an internship this summer in consulting at IBM. And last summer I interned at the Federal Reserve doing compliance and digital transformation. I don't know if I will return to IBM, but I will decide on that based on the experience I have at the internship. However in the mean time I want to explore and see what other opportunities there are. Any advice on when and where to apply for full-time?

Hey guys. I have a technical interview with AlixPartners restructuring and turnaround team. This is for their summer intern position. I didn’t come from a restructuring background. Does anyone have an idea of what might get asked in the interview? Is it going to be very restructuring specific or some general accounting/ finance/ operational sides of topics.

A question for recruiters. When you call someone asking them if they are interested in an opportunity and then ask them for a technical interview the next day and they ask for an extension does it impact their application? Recently it has happened to me twice that recruiter calls, he has my details and asks if I’m interested and then ask for same day or next day interview. And when I apologize since I actually have job to take care as well they just ghost me. Is this something that’s normal?

Currently a second-year associate at a regional firm. I have become really unhappy with the life-style at a firm and the constant stress of meeting my billable requirements. It was always my goal to go in-house, but I know I likely lack the requisite experience to make a move somewhere that can offer meaningful advancement. Any advice? I know it will likely be that I need to “stick it out” for a few more years, but I am just extremely dissatisfied with the prospect of being at a firm for years.
