I don’t have the highest paying job, the hottest role, the prestige, or the level of career progression that my peers enjoy.

But I just want to appreciate the fact that I still make more then twice the average wage, was employed during the entirety of the quarantine, have a family, a house, security, health and so much more that I take for granted. It’s nice to stop looking up, and take a good look around once in a while. Life is alright!

Money is a tool, not an end in and of itself. It looks like you're using it well. Congrats!

You're a consultant at EY, one of the largest and most well known professional services firm in the world. The "hottest" companies go to US for help. We're the mercenaries of the private sector. We're experts at what we do, and when people are intrigued about what we do and ask, we say "If I tell you then I'd have to kill you" because we're mandated by NDAs, furthering more interest in our profession. And we have one of the best exit opportunities ever, challenged everyday by exciting and new work and travelling to new places, unlike our industry counterparts. Be proud of what you do! At the end of the day, money means nothing. God, family, and service is everything. In. That. Order.

I think the ‘toxic’ comments are just people being funny and sarcastic.

I moved to Canada from India 2.5 years ago for my PG in IT BA. I have a bachelors in IT and I worked as a developer for 5 years back home. After my PG, I spent 8 months looking for a job, my current company interviewed me for Technical project manager, but they offered me the role of a PC. I accepted it without negotiating as I did not want to lose the opportunity, I am extremely underpaid and I have been doing the job of 3 people, as my company keeps firing folks. I’ve lost all my confidence.
