I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I bought like 10 bitcoin back in 2013 and sold them for minimal upside soon after and have some sort of weird seller’s remorse and emotional block from regaining some exposure when I honestly think that’s the rational thing to do. Thoughts? Sadly feel the same way about index funds I sold too during covid...

You made the decisions based on the information available to you back then. There’s no reason to feel bad about it and potentially miss new opportunities.

yes and no. more context re: the index funds - I sold them pre-covid because I thought the market was getting too hot and sold end of Q3 2019, bought on the dip before the shutdown in Q1 2020, got scared by the next dip after the shutdown and sold, and have just been too confused to do anything since and sitting on cash, which has clearly been a suboptimal play.

I don’t think I was super emotional when I made the decisions re: Bitcoin and index funds in the past (except when I sold on the second dip) and largely don’t regret my decisions back then, but I think fear and confusion are preventing me from making good decisions now and I’m not sure how to overcome that. it could also be that as my net worth increases and I have more responsibility to manage these funds for my family and not just myself, I’m feeling the weight of potentially making bigger mistakes. I usually have more confidence in my investment decisions, but don’t seem to be able to channel it now.

There used to be a bitcoin atm in the MIT Coop near where I worked. I kept meaning to use it for the fun of it but never did. We all have these stories.

Agreed on all above. March was a scary time, markets were halted multiple times a week!

I usually don’t recommend this — but I would consider getting an adviser. You’re probably at the level of wealth where it would be worth it. These people watch the market all day. Shop around for a good one (easier said than done) and consider allocating a small portion to them to start. At the end of the day, 2+ brains (assuming the advisor has their own analysts, etc) is much better than 1.

Hi all - figuring out loan options. Does anyone know if it’s better to choose:
A.) a longer term loan with a higher interest rate and overpay each month (0.5% higher interest, ~300 less in payment each month)
B.) a shorter term loan with a lower interest rate and meet the monthly payment exactly

Or how to calculate the better option?

Would love some input on putting money into house renos, and whether they’ll be worth it in the long run. Thought this would be a good bowl for it.

First time homeowners. We splurged a little on the house and hope to make it a more long-term (10-15 year) place. It needed some upgrades and renovations, the biggest one of which is the kitchen. All in, we’re looking at around 90k for kitchen. It feels like an absurd amount of money, but all 4 quotes we got were around the same ballpark. Thoughts?
