been in downward spiral since COVID, struggling with being alone, loved the travel, teams. got depressed and angry. Dreaded work. In the process got to drinking 4 up to 15 drinks most days. Gained weight. Didn’t care about living. Have tried to stop over and over. Last week I woke up with a bloody nose and for the first time cared. I don’t know what changed. I am 7 days sober and I am starting to feel like the me I remember! I am proud! I am thankful! I just needed to share!

I’m a Sr Manager and I was arrested for the first time in my life, and it was for DWI. I haven’t been convicted as it’s a long drawn out process, but curious how big of a deal this is when looking for consulting/IT/Program Management type jobs. A little over three months sober now. I’ve been doing okay, but tonight after going to a party and not drinking (didn’t struggle with that) realized how much my life is changing and it’s kind of sad

Does anyone have recommendations for non-alcoholic drinks? I have been having soda with lime at happy hours, but also just found Athletic Beer that is n/a as an option. I’m tired of temptation and upturned or confused looks. Also, just have felt so much better not drinking and not going down a spiral - really want to keep things that way.

What are some fun sober activities or hobbies? Meaning where it's hard or impossible to drink while doing the activity? Hiking, bike riding, shooting guns are some that come to mind. What else?

I’ve managed well during all of this and am approaching my first full year of sobriety. But the thoughts of “I want to get slammed at a bar when this is over” are starting.

Starting on my journey to sobriety today from sex addiction. I’ve been clean from alcohol for several years but my therapist has pushed me to start attending AA meetings in addition to SAA meetings. I know I can’t overcome this alone.

I’ve been clean for about 6 years (with NA) and started to use kratom 6 months ago, without fully understanding what it really is. I’m really ashamed as I realise I relapsed.

As there ain’t nothing like a free lunch I should have known earlier feeling like that wasn’t right. But I guess I lied to myself.

I’m 35 hours off it and negotiating to go to the bodega and get some. How long do withdrawals last? Will tomorrow be better?

My husband is an alcoholic and it’s getting worse with the holidays. He’s started every day drinking high alcohol-content IPAs as early as 8am. And he drinks them all day and all night like soda. He did AA when he was younger but is now vehemently against it. He is high-functioning. Has a PhD from MIT and works for a venture capitalist firm. I wondered how he gets through the day, but he started to come home early (mid-afternoon) and immediately open a beer while working. What should I do?
