I don't know why this is the case and maybe it's just my agency but it seems like the people who are most eager to send out "internal trend email digests" be it cultural trends, social media changes, creative inspiration or whatever always seem to be people who are grossly failing in the primary role they were hired for.

In my experience, the people who keep talking about doing this but never actually do it are exactly what you say. The ones who get around to doing it only a handful of times because they get too busy with client work tend to be the ones with actually insightful analyses to share.

My strategists do that.

Yes. I wish they would stop pedaling stuff that people clear out of their inboxes and actually participate on real work.

I'm willing to draw the correlation to these same people failing upwards.

Hi everyone. I interviewed for a sales role at Amazon. I was told the role was an L6 and I can stay based in Chicago. Well, the recruiter emailed me today saying the hiring team felt I was better suited for an L5 role (estimated total comp is $140K-$150K) and I would have to move to Seattle. They'll send me an offer if that works. Any advice or opinions on how to negotiate? For context, I gave a desired salary range of $280K-$310K since this was an L6 role, and my current TC at P&G is $200K.

At the start of the month, I spoke to a CD about a spot at his agency, an agency I really want to be a part of. He said my salary request was a bit high & told me his limit. Fine, still interested. After a couple of weeks of nothing, their recruiter calls me on Thursday to tell me more about the role and the agency. Then says the salary parameters and it’s $5k less than what he said. I told her the number he gave & she said she’d talk to him. Did I just tryin my shot? And when should i follow up
