I don’t love excel but I like strategy. I can do the analytics but definitely not amazing at it. Is it silly to go into a tech growth strategy role from consulting? Should I pivot to something totally new?

Whenever you pivot, try to move in the direction where you make less and less concessions. If you've already identified the tech/analytics specific things you could do without, it would be a disservice to yourself to sign up for something similar without a concrete plan to escape it It's not always clear what we'll like or dislike, but once you know, you can make burnout less likely if you just listen to yourself

I’ve been looking at business development type roles. I like people so I’m thinking that could be good. A bit introverted/too earnest but that can be improved upon right?

Excel sucks for presenting analytics, so maybe you can move to a role that allows you to use things like Power BI and Tableau. Gets more creative juices flowing and more of a focus on the user experience, though you do have to have the transformation and modeling foundation.

Hi everyone. I just received an offer to jump to another consulting firm. As part of the hiring process this new company does a background check (employment and education) which they’ve stated should take about two weeks or less. I’m not worried about the background check since everything I’ve said is true. That said, when should I give notice to my current company? Ideally I’d like to leave as much time in between the end and start for rest and relaxation. What do you all think?
