After law school, I worked at a “boutique” law firm (i.e., a small law firm that paid like crap and worked you big law hours) and then moved in-house. I have realized that I now work the same hours as my big law friends, have much less job satisfaction than they do (yes, that is possible), and make less money than they do. Now, I have the opportunity to go big law in an area I currently practice in. I’m considering taking the opportunity. What should I be thinking about?

I've applied and networked for my dream job and didn't get an interview this time. Also dissatisfied with compensation and some of the responsibilities at my current job but have a lot of opportunity to learn. I have a few questions for people in consulting roles (both external/internal).

My partner is in corporate banking, but he wants to switch to a consulting/strategy-based role. I noticed people with those jobs typically have an MBA, and also majority of the job ads in similar roles has MBA as either a requirement or preferred qualification. So:

1) does MBA actually improve someone's chance in getting those roles?
2) are there any good Canadian MBA programs you'd recommend?

Tips for bankruptcy associates who eventually want to move in-house? 3rd year associate in bankruptcy/restructuring group doing mainly bk lit but a few deals too. Need to stay in BL for at least another year for the money, but eventually want to move in-house. The path to in-house seems more straightforward for general commercial lit or more standard transactional practices. Any tips for someone who’s practice is a bit of a hybrid (and who will never likely do discovery or handle a depo)

I have this contract with a marketing agency. I know the guy tried really hard and did his best but in the end he didn't pull through and I can get my money back per the contract.

I don't know if 100% is the right amount as he did work hard but he didn't perform. What's the right thing to do?

When you refund a signing bonus do you
1- refund ALL of it even taxes Withheld ?
2- refund only the amount that was deposited in your account
3- mix between 1 and 2 refund more than was deposited but less than the whole amount ( taxes should be refunded to me next year)

I’ve heard that recruiters prefer one page resumes over two page, but how do you fit everything on one page if you have over 10 years experience and worked at more than a handful of companies? I’ve seen people squeeze things into one page with 10pt font and barely any blank space..is that preferred over two pages?! Lol

I do feel bad when people can’t afford our subscription any more even though they love it. However, I wish they would stop getting mad at me over it. It’s not my fault!

Customers are giving us bad experience ratings because we don’t offer them the solutions they want. Our company won’t allow us to offer those solutions, but the manager punishes us for low ratings anyway. I don’t get how they’re ok with that.

I hate when customers say “I understand it’s not your fault” and then continue to be rude anyway.

I've heard so many people complaining because "every client support person suck".
What they don't see:
- We've been working non-stop for the past 6 hours or more.

- You're blaming us for something we have no control over.

"You can't please everyone!" Being in customer support for 4+ years, that statement has never been truer.
