I don't think prosecutors should get peremptory strikes. They should only be allowed to strike for cause.

Prosecutor here. For cause only. No peremptory. For all. Jury selection is too tedious across the board. Let’s pick in a day and try it in 2-3.

Interesting concept. What’s the reason for tweaking only one half (allowing defense to keep them) Should it be that there are no peremptory challenges in criminal cases, at all?

Civil litigator here, so my question is out of genuine curiosity.

I literally had the husband of my Girl Scout troop leader who also was the father of my best friend in grade school in my jury pool and the judge did not allow a for cause strike by the defense attorney because the guy said he felt he could be impartial.

I have seen similar for those who knew defense attorneys but I don’t remember specific examples as that was eight to fifteen years ago.

My own example sticks out in my mind because I am now Facebook friends with my old Girl Scout troop leader (but wasn’t then as I hadn’t talked to her in years).

So stuck. What do I do? I joined this firm a year ago (4 yrs exp total) to grow/get more court/client exposure. Boss claims it's mentoring. I still need to meet bill req.

Last wk Boss said I'll do more & my work was good, but today said I can't 2nd chair bc I don't have experience. I'm doing less now than my prior firm.

First (second?) year here, already hit hours for the year. Finally a slow week with little to no work on my plate. Someone help me fight the urge to let partners I have capacity.

I’m the only associate (mid-level) in a niche transactional group. My team is slammed. My paralegal is on leave. My partners keep delegating work to me but then I have no one to delegate anything to. Nearly everything for 2 big deals is on my list. I’m so stressed that I feel like I can’t breathe most days. I need help but there isn’t any available. I’m starting to feel like quitting is my only option. Any recommendations?
