I don't travel because my client is local, but those who do: How often do you fly 1st class? Are you able to expense it with no questions asked?

PS: also never hire BCG if I'm client side

Don't book first class unless at partner level or flying international. Just get upgraded 75% of the time.

like

Booking forst class even when you are a frequent traveller, for any flight under 6 hours, is typically poor form. INTL, red eyes or something critical, then it makes sense but that hits budget pretty hard in some cases.

like

When I was a staff, I couldn't wait to get on a travel gig. Now the clients won't let me go.

BCG 1 here. Anything over 90 mins can be first

like

PwC managers and above can book first if they flew 70,000 in the previous fiscal year. Client pays base price and firm picks up the rest

like

Depends on status for me. I don't get to expense first but now that I hit status I'm on first almost every time, especially when my client is a Sunday night / Friday morning slog so I don't compete with other consultants.

I hear BCG always flies first class. Future BCG1, confirm?

Book business class (no First) because I travel internationally. Also when I was domestically because I am in the top 50 traveler in the firm at the national level.

Sry to hear that, M1

If you're on the firm's list of frequent travelers, you can book a first class ticket on flights over three hours - no questions asked.

Upgrades, great. But there's something wrong with charging clients for first class.

When your firm requires billable hours, how are they calculated? Actual vs realized (I.e. what you put on your billing sheet vs what is billed to the client). Does your firm differentiate? Which number do they go by? My mind is somehow not comprehending how some big law hours are under my small firm requirement?

Need a quick point of view all - today on a group call, I asked a new c level male exec if it was fine for me to provide a client with a piece of information we had been discussing on the call (this required his approval). He replied “you’re an adult so tell them what you want”. I was immediately livid and felt it was a totally weird, condescending response. I’m a senior female employee at the company and this guy has already had issues at the company with his tone, thoughts? Am I overreacting?

I got shortlisted for an organisation, then comes the package talk with HR. The mere 5yrs experience HR is saying that cannot provide me more than 30% & very strict in following the same in providing hikes. Most of the Indian companies are still no changing to provide normalisation. Because, because , because of this HR's are only good in negotiating with recruits and don't have the guts to take it to the organization and negotiate to convince Org. My firm has a collections budget (80% of your billable rate x 1850 hours) and an hourly budget that must be met in order to be eligible for a bonus. The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know. Is this normal??

Once they have okayed the document, they approve the request. This is causing some issues at our end. I want to check with other folks, where does your legal team sits in the workflow? I am an IT guy and never seems legal being part of the req process. Thanks 🙏
