What does corporate tax have to do with bankruptcy and severance packages?
MD1 earning that paycheck, splitting the middle and making people play nice. gg wp.
Glad to bring some laughter. Either you don’t know it either, or you just prefer to be mean.
But clearly you know what I was trying to ask, so be kind enough to educate me on it. As I said, I am clueless. This is not my field at all.
Chief
It depends on which chapter they file under. If it’s Chapter 11 (highly unlikely), then no, severance will not be paid out. If under Chapter 7 (likely if they file at all), then yes, severance will be paid out under the contract of the chapter (and not the original).
Chief
D3- I switched the chapters, but yes. I meant restructure is more likely than liquidation, which chapter those are.
This isn’t really a corporate tax matter.
Employee obligations are very high up on the list of what a company has to pay in bankruptcy. In this case, twitter would have to pay a minimum of WARN. They’d likely try to work around anything else (I believe the severance offer was a little better than WARN), though I’m not sure how it would play out.
Thank you!

No . Bankruptcy protects company from debtors including employers suppliers etc
Thank you!

Employees are entitled to their severance. The question is what priority those payments will get and whether there will be money to pay the claims.
I’ve seen companies go into bankruptcy and pay Nada!
I don’t know but I think we might soon find out 😂
