I DON’t want to be: “Financial Rep”, “Insurance Rep”, bla bla bla. Those names are strategies to talk you into an insurance sales person. I WANT to be a REAL Financial Planner! ANY REAL suggestions???

What are you considered at JPM? Once you get your 7 and 66, you can be considered a Financial Advisor at most firms. Depending on your company, you are also allowed to create and implement financial plans. If you receive your CFP, you’re technically considered a Financial Planner. Almost all firms recognize these steps.

You are the one responsible for being a financial planner. Choosing the right firm can help facilitate that more than some firms but at the end of the day every advisor is different and focusing on financial planning and learning to be thorough is on you, and the firm you are with is simply the platform you operate under, even if it is one that might push insurance more like FFS or Axa etc.

My spouse and I recently adopted an older shelter dog (Carlotta). Some of the other MDs at my hospital were putting together a "Dr. and Dog" social event, so I took Carlotta. The amount of jabs I got for bringing a shelter "mutt" (with typical elderly dog health ailments) instead of purchasing an expensive designer dog like everyone else was astounding. I'm sorry I didn't pay thousands for a purebred or socially-acceptable mutt. Is this level of snobbery typical in dog circles??

I’m sure this won’t come across well but I have to say it… my husband and I make good money (about $600k combined) and are grateful for it but these Biden tax increases are going to kill us. The truly rich don’t get hit hard meanwhile it sucks to be an upper middle class family. No matter how much I make somehow my take home seems to keep going down.

Asking for an observation as part of interview process… I have 2 job offers, one in pediatric clinic and one in home health. Obviously they are very different but I can’t decide. I’ve never done home health and really want to see a couple sessions to get a feel for it if I would like it. Is that something I can ask for before accepting an offer?

Does anyone have insight into Digitas Health?

Question for my health-conscious ladies. I’m trying to lose weight, have lost about 10 pounds in the last month which I’m super happy with because it’s mainly been a diet change and light exercise. There’s been 2 instances though where I ate a big burrito for dinner (a week apart) and I gained like 1.5 pounds overnight! Is this because of slow digestion or I guess fat from the burrito being stored? I’m trying to get under 150 and may need to curb the burritos for now😂

I want to take a sabbatical. No one else at my firm has taken one - even our attorneys who have had kids are usually back the week after, our female lawyers who have kids typically take a month to six weeks but it is unpaid. I’m a partner, I know it will be without pay, and I really need some mental health time without email/deadlines. I have thought about leaving the firm but would prefer to recharge if possible. Is this a bad idea?

Anyone ever face this question in an interview - "Rate your skills on a scale of 1-10"- which was immediately followed by the interviewer firing off a bunch of different software programs and tasks. I waffled pretty hard and said 5 for most things. They probably ran down a list of 20 different items - the numbers felt completely meaningless by the end of it.
