I don’t work THAT much (1800h/year is my target), my weeks are usually 10-11 h m-f.
Anybody else experiencing issues with bluehost email servers? Seems like they have a known issue of emails not being sent but it’s drastically impacting my partner’s small business. Looking for any help getting his email back and running 🤷🏻♀️ @bluehost

I have an offer in-hand of 17LPA.
My HR round of Morgan Stanley is scheduled for next week. How much should I ask for a base salary?
and will there be any stock and signing bonus? Thanks.
I don’t know if coming out is something I should do or not anymore. My girlfriend and I want to get married in the next couple of years but thats not something I want to keep secret. It hurts me that I feel like I have to do that, but I don’t want to risk losing my job. I know they can’t fire me for being in a wlw relationship but they don’t have to give a reason. I don’t want the backlash of the community either since the area I teach in is really rural. Just sad I guess.
How NOT to date in the office!
Emp: This isn't fair. You've seen me performing! You said it was like never before
HR: I agree! It isn't. However, your performance during offsite and in private quarters have led you to move in with me.
Don't mix business and pleasure
Emp: I should have dated my senior then!
HR: Too late! You're mine now! 🔥
Don't worry, I'm here with or without your promotion.
I recall Republicans being purple with rage when they mistakenly thought Obama did this. I wonder if they'll be so passionate this time.
I may have an opportunity for care management position for cvs. I wanted to see any feed back of the type of company it is?
Is leaving audit without a job lined up and training myself on some relevant analyst skills to try to land an industry position a terrible idea? I don’t see myself building up SQL, Python, or modeling skills with my work hours and not sure if trying to do that would help land a non-accounting role in industry.
I am relocating to Charlotte NC November 30th and on the career hunt . I have experience in HR, hospitality, social work, customer service, and education. I’ll graduate with my Master of Social Work in May 2023. I’ve been applying to a few things but no luck. I’m open to trying new career fields and to hybrid, on-site , or remote work. Please point me in the direction of a great opportunity!
I feel like I wouldn't get many tips as a server because I'm a guy, is this really true or am I just making it up?

Started biglaw without using a monitor, as I’m still not settled in an apartment. I’ve made a ton of mistakes during closing, and feel very bad about my speed and errors since I think a monitor would have helped. But was this a huge mistake, does anyone else work off of their laptop sometimes ?

Staff attorney at Hogan Lovells as a way to break into data privacy. The team said they would have an eye towards making me an associate in a year or two. Thoughts/feelings/pros/cons?
Is anyone else here nervous about getting a year bump soon? I lateraled to a new firm to focus on something that I did not do much before and feel like a first year. So having new first years coming in and getting a year bump makes me unreasonably anxious.

We have an associate in our office who is EXTREMELY intelligent. Two Ivy Leagues +++. But a lot of the time, he just fools around, watches a soccer game in Europe on his computer or just randomly surfs the internet.
However, he is also the most efficient guy I know. He can easily write a finished product of 8.000 words, complete with researched references, in a single day (with all these breaks!).
He bills, in understanding with partners, a lot more than the time
We are like blue collar workers but instead of our arms and legs they use our brain and fingers to complete repetitive, boring tasks while exploiting the crap out of us. At least blue collar workers have WLB. Thinking about leaving BL for good. How much money do I really need?
Are corporate senior associates who are pretty good/competent but not gunning for partner now valuable again in this hot transactional market? In the past seniors always seemed to be pushed out if not a clear partner candidate/no book and struggled in the lateral market but it seems the market has changed that for the time being. 8th year M&A senior here - very burnt out but also very competent.
Vent: sometimes the need for perfection in big law is absurd. Closed and amended a set of fund documents for LP consent on back to back days Bc a single close fund turned into multi close and unlimited capital commitments. I told the client they would get LP consent to amend and then could have investors subscribe for additional capital commitments. Got reamed for 20 minutes by the clients Bc I didn’t make it clear that for investors to subscribe for additional capital commitments would require
I want to be good at my craft. I sometimes do extra reading or research because I want to improve and it's honestly more interesting than Netflix.
I also wonder if this is unhealthy bc I know ppl whose only sense of identity is from success at work, and I don't want to be like that.

Does anyone else feel like the term “manage up” has been twisted from meaning “try to set expectations for your availability and process” to “do both your job AND the partners job?” So many partners just ignore email requests and pings until everything is last minute or on fire. When I mention this in any sort of review “manage up” is normally what I hear back, in some form or another.
Have been slow since the Summer (100-120 hour months). Work is starting to pick up, but I have no motivation to do the work anymore. Anyone else have this problem? How did you rebound? I have a mountain of work building and still only bill like 6-7 hours because I get exhausted after that.
