I enjoy PA and being partner would be tight but I don't want to sacrifice every other aspect of life. They always promote balance but they promote people who don't have balance. Just bad culture.

I wish all firms would simply be truthful to people and tell them we reward the time and dedication you put into this career and stop saying they care about work/life balance or flexibility. Don't say one thing and reward the opposite thing.

Deloitte 1 and BDO 1 sorry I forgot all the partner slots are promised to pricks like you, good luck ass holes.

@Crowe Horwath 1 I hear you but I do well at my job and have consistently received higher ratings. I am only worried about later on when it comes to promoting to SM and Partner. I have an extremely busy life with work and family and am able to manage it well know but it seems there are many people close to partner that are essentially married to their work.

The life of a partner sucks. Sure they make a lot of money, but there's a ton of stress, round the clock work, never see their families. They don't even make that much considering the workload and risk. Now they gotta sign their names to the SEC. just wait until the next company goes under and a partner's name is all over the front page of every newspaper and tv station. Oh ya and it takes 12 years of bullshit and slaving away to even have a chance at the position. Not worth it IMO.

Yes accounting is a heavy labor type of work and whether you are successful not only depends on how detailed a person is but also how tough their butts(and back/neck etc) are to endure sitting over 15 hours a day everyday. That's why shorter people could get more successful in this field.

Forever disqualified for describing being a partner as "tight"

Lighten up EY OP. Resorting to name calling tells a person you.might want to work on your emotional intelligence if you want to be successful in any career.

You can't have it all. Sad but true. If you want balance, you can probably just slowly move along in PA. No high raises or early promotions. It's not the PA culture. We live in a world where competition is strong and work life balance is an afterthought. PA is just like most other industries. If you want to excel, you must pick your priorities.

Partners are not tight..

Yeah....Tbh I have no goal of ever making partner. I could easily be consumed by work and prioritize it over my family. And to be partner I feel like you pretty much have to do that. Maybe it's because I'm a mom, not a dad, but I can't do that to my husband and kid.
