How do I pivot from a broker to any job in tech?
As a result of #metoo, it was revealed that now a lot of male supervisors and councillors are refusing to train/guide their female juniors. Most of them don't want the hassle of being accused of sexual harassment.
What are your thoughts on this?

Dude, if you really want to direct, work your ad job and moonlight directing any film projects you can.
Did it and doing it, so far with increasing success. Similar story as you it seems, went to ad school, agency life as AD but began fiddling with cameras. Side hustle grew into main hustle. Still working away it but shoot budgets clients are giving me are breaking into six figures (just barely). You need to really love the craft to go into direction and/or content creation, and you need to be OK with working directly with clients for content creation stuff. My advice would be to use agency experience to learn as much as you can about production, it's a gateway to being on set. Second piece would be to learn the craft of production, not just it's direction.
@cw1 I’m in my 30’s and just graduated Ad School. More school is not really an option.
Start making stuff and preferably not ad stuff. Moving to CD won’t help you. Learn to edit
You should try film school.
Def what fad1 said. Get on shoots. Weasel your way in if you have to. Talk shop with all the production people. Learn their tricks and lingo. Try to make a friend. It’s a community even more so than advertising bc they all end up working on different parts of the same productions. And generally they’re cool, fun, and passionate people
Yes turn your side hustle into your main hustle. Meeting the community, helping directors out for free to learn the tricks of the trade and stat top of mind for the next opportunity.
Great advice from a director friend: if there an indie director you admire, offer to volunteer. They’re always looking for help. A warm intro is always good but you can also try to cold email. And that can turn into a relationship, connections, and opportunities.
Def don’t try to be CD :)
That’s a leap that many have tried. Many. GL.
The first day of ad school they were like “if you wanna use your ad job to write or direct just try and write or direct.” Wish I would have listened.
