I feel absolutely broken by this job. But, I cant leave because I'm only an SC and I don't have an MBA. And despite 10 years of experience, 6 of which are Big4, I seem to only be qualified to be a VP.

Did you think you were going from a senior consultant to being a CFO at some place like Boeing? I just don't understand the "only a VP" Comment

I'm not trolling. Don't feel like I've progressed relative to my peers. Don't feel respected. I'm tired of killing myself. But can't get out at a decent level.

Where do you want to go?

Anywhere fulfilling with a good title and more money. Sounds like a friggin pipe dream.

I think you need to look in the mirror. You are likely the problem. What is it about your attitude and approach to the work that holds you back? As soon as you see the problem as “out there” that very thought is the problem. How can you network more effectively at your firm? How can you work smarter not harder? How can you build relationships with key people? How can you bite your tongue and know your roll as an SC?

Also confused about the only VP comment. How high up would you like to be?

Hello everyone! What certifications do you think would be useful to a person who is a newcomer in the fraud and forensic industry. I want to boost my skill set and profile. Currently working as a due diligence, risk and compliance researcher at Kroll. I feel the research role is quite redundant without growth opportunities. Want to move into financial crime compliance. Will the CFE or CAMS be a good investment towards achieving this goal? My background is in law. Please advise.

Hi everybody,

Looking for some insight/curious to hear how others would handle this situation:

I have an offer I want to accept; I was trying to negotiate for a signing bonus… but they’re not budging.

The issue is, the start date is in a month and I’m up for a promotion in a week at my current company. I would like to leave before I get promoted, I think it would be pretty low of me to accept and promptly quit.

Not the new employer’s problem? Or can/should I try to leverage this?

Been in a new job a couple of months it's going ok so far. Now, my exboss is leaving the previous firm and they are now asking me if I would consider coming back with an upgraded title/responsibilities/comp. Both companies (current and previous) are stable but previous is smaller so exposure to different areas of the firm, current is larger company with a more focused role. What are the type of things I should be asking while evaluating the opportunity.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Deadlines can induce anxiety attacks for me. I worked through the weekend and just woke up to a (nice!) email from the client asking about progress. We're not going to hit deadline. This caused an all-out anxiety attack at 6:30 am and now I have to somehow get myself together and work.

How can I have a healthy relationship with deadlines? That "good and done is better than perfect" saying is nice, but expectations are very high. I just want to stop feeling this way. Therapy helps, kind of.
