Reach out to the mid level and senior associates in your group as they are usually more plugged in to staffing and can have their pick of who they staff when their go-to partner staffs them on deals. Usually they will want to work with someone who is enthusiastic and looking for more substantive work/willing to actually learn. If you do a good job for a few, the word will spread to others.

Agreed reach out to senior associates. It depends on your practice, but in my group for instance (technology transactions) most of the partners would work with a senior associate for the more complicated projects. In that case I work directly with the senior associate (and usually don’t even know who the partner is bc I don’t interact with them at all).

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

How should I approach her in the upcoming year?

What would you say to your 75yr old mom if she: went to a wedding saturday 5/7 where people then got covid, went to a funeral that tuesday w symptomatic people from the wedding (knowingly), the people then tested positive, then my stepdad tested positive, and the next day my mom insisted she go visit my grandmom at her retirement place, where she fibbed the covid questions? Just ignore her blatant selfishness? Call her out? This is typical. I think she might be a narcissist. Just realizing this.

I love my job and coworkers and my pharmacist.. but seeing these pay rates y’all have I’m very disappointed.

Two questions: 1) I’m pregnant with my first baby (16 weeks), any advice on when to disclose? 2) Does that timing advice change given our current COVID circumstances? I’ve been WFH since March, and while the Firm hasn’t indicated it’s going to require us back in, a handful of partners I work have started to mention it. I’d like to nip that talk in the bud and feel like a reasonable way to do that is to disclose. Thanks in advance for any thoughts?

so i’ve been freelancing and was talking about going staff until covid hit and they paused hiring. so i took a job elsewhere, lower pay, making graphics for social media. i’m prioritizing stability since i support my parents. but if you were me, what would be your plan? i was a little bummed by the role, i don’t mind production work but i was kind of in talks for art director and yeah, would it be bad to leave my new job in 4 months or so supposedly when things get better?

Hi all,

Is anyone open to splitting a luxury 2BR/1-2BA?

Open to anywhere in the city - would rather get a nice place because we’re stuck in our apartments all day (preferably with a nice skyline view - but we can discuss). But definitely my own bedroom because I’ll be on calls all day.

Moderately covid-conscious.

Could someone suggest how good it is to accept the counter offer from your current employer in response to your resignation.

Recently I sent a resignation mail to CGI after a job offer from TCS with almost 65% increment, in response to my resignation my manager has offered me a counter offer with slightly more salary than what TCS is offering me.

A suggestion from someone who has/had experienced the similar situation would be highly appreciated.

If we start repaying student loans in May, is it a wise decision to dump as much cash into them upfront as possible? I’m a second year, and I have ~$40K in savings. I wanted to buy a house (hence the cash), but that doesn’t look like it will happen in this market. I’m wondering if I should just put $30-35k into my loans instead. I have ~120K of debt.
