I used to feel this way a lot, and then in the last year I had two really big losses, my fathers death and a divorce. It showed me how fragile life is, despite all of our saving and planning for the future. And through therapy I learned to be kinder to myself. Maybe don’t worry so much, spend on what makes you happy (within reason), and enjoy your life. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
I’m sorry for your losses! And thank you for sharing this perspective :)
Me too I always feel bad spending on clothes and such. I just talk to my friends who buy a ton of clothes and they make me feel better 😂
If you save 20%, you're doing a lot better than most people. If you want to be really conservative, make it 25%, and then enjoy the rest. Similar to D1, I've had four deaths in my family the last couple years, and it has made me more willing to spend on things that let me and my husband enjoy life now instead of just saving and talking about what we'll do later.
