I feel like a champ today. I woke up late at 9:30 am, but billed 11 hours, managed to work out for 40 minutes, took a 1 hour break for coffee break in the evening and another 1 hour for dinner. Spoke to my family on FaceTime 2 times. Had a shower and washed my hair. Now waiting for my partner to come to bed. It’s late (1:30 am) but I’m reading a few pages of a book for the first time in forever. Tomorrow might be different but I’ll try to make it like today. I feel like a champ!

This is what I imagine firm life to be, but billing 8-9 hours a day so weekends can be light. Is that realistic?

For the record, I joined my firm about 2 months into the cycle and have been very busy. I would generally limit my work to 175 hours a month but since I’m so close to hitting my billable target for the entire year, I’m gunning a bit!

Build on this day! One minute, one hour, one day at a time and soon it’ll become how you regularly feel. Incremental progress is how you bust out of a funk!

I’m out late most nights. I’ve slept like 10 hours in the past 3 days. But I feel too guilty not joining her every morning. So here I am, picking out an outfit for the day. And god forbid I don’t do my hair. FML

What is the standard yearly hike in IT Security industry in North America? I have worked for 7 months in Threat Intelligence in a company in Canada, and I got a yearly hike of just 3% in my first appraisal cycle. My manager says that you get 3% when you are meeting expectations but not going above and beyond. Is this the standard or am I being underpaid? According to me, I haven't gone above and beyond every day, but there are some things I did work on exceptionally well.
