I feel like being blunt. Tell me the worst Uncle Tom scenario you’ve faced in consulting and how you handled it.
I live in LA. I’m currently interviewing at McKinsey for a role offered in multiple cities outside of LA. It’s totally worth it to pack my stuff and make the move if I land this... but is there any chance that they would provide an option to stay in LA even if they don’t have an office here?
interviewing for industry role with expected paycut. Overqualified but would get foot in door. If position pays X - Y, possible to negotiate up since I'm overqualified?
My wife is due to give birth to our second son a few days after our wedding anniversary. I don’t want to buy her something for the baby. Looking for suggestions.
Who else gets trigged by people who spent 99% of their day with a Skype status of “busy” regardless of whether they are in meetings or one calls? 🙋♂️
I'm heading into an in-person final interview, I'm 30 I look 21.. any thoughts on reactions if I just happen to mention my age during? I just don't want to be discounted because I look young...
Can someone provide a pay range for a Senior 1 with an MBA or JD in EY OTS in Chicago or another similar COL office?
Might seem like a silly question but do any of your firms, or do you know of any firms, that have fairly progressive cultures? WFH has made me realize how incredibly stifled I felt in the office. I want to be able to show some tattoos, have a purple streak in my hair, wear artistic clothing etc and still be taken seriously. Does this kind of utopia exist or am I being extremely naive? I'm originally an artist. I hate how much I've realized that I've stifled my personality for this industry.
Has anyone made a move on a friend they’ve known for years and how did that work out? I’ve been hanging out a lot more with one of my friends during covid and we casually flirt every now and then, but I haven’t made a move yet because I’m just not sure how to do that with a friend without risking the friendship
🙄 advice:If I have a 3.70+ GPA from USC,a solid GMAT score, and 2-3 years of work experience in big 4 MC,do I still have a shot at HBS, Stanf, Whart MBA? Would the type of consulting impact my odds?
What’s the average manager salary for B4 Tier 1 city in cyber? I’m trying to gauge what I should ask for
What companies are even hiring internationals right now? Currently pursuing a grad degree and am feeling nervous about my options upon graduation.
When it comes to minorities getting paid less than their white counterparts (esp. men), do you think it’s more about minorities having difficulties standing up for themselves to make a case for getting a raise/promotion, the bias of their managers/leadership, or both? Asian male here who doesn’t like to toot my own horn or play politics but feel increasingly like it’s required to keep climbing in this industry.
6 figure salary language: I know we are still in a world where saying 6 figure salary means something, but people also said 6 figure salary decades ago when it was more than double its value today, and may have even used the terminology when it was worth many times its value today (I don’t have the full history on when it first became popular terminology.). Do we see the terminology “6 figure salary,” used in esteemed terms, going away any time soon?
401k question- What if you reached your 19500 limit thru payroll already for this year? Any other tax deferred options?
