Anyone familiar with the Bain Specialist Consultant role? What type of project work do they get compared to generalists? The good and the bad? How is the comp?
Tfw a project you did that was a stinking trashfire is being talked up to the entire North America leadership team.... 😒
Nothing quite like joining a project and not doing a lick of work for the first few days 🙌
Pro tip: use your PTO to go all in on a personal hobby or side project for a week. It’s super refreshing, and you don’t have the stress of travel.
It was mentioned to me that what’s holding me back from a promo is “getting more client reps.” I asked a colleague what they think this means and their answer was helpful but informally worded. Can someone help me word these into professional goals I can take to my RL to help me achieve? “You need to be front-and-center with the client, and present a significant amount of information to them that you owned start to finish. You need to be able to manage and work with the client”
The Trusted Advisor - Gain your client’s trust by thinking about someone other than yourself for once... at least that’s what I got out of it. It came highly recommended, and I’m underwhelmed...
I have been doing a lot of strategy work and am considering taking on a Post-merger integration (PMI) project within the healthcare space. I have been on mostly 2-3 month strategy projects (average ~ 50-55 hours / week). If I take on this PMI project, should I suspect my hours to be around the same, or increse drastically?

My peer compiles reports and will send me emails while cc’ing client management—which is fine but she gives me a deadline for the same day and a deadline that she established herself (the report is for a meeting sometime next week). WTF!!!!

As a staff on the consulting side, does anyone else find it awkward to join a zoom call with the client before the manager/sm joins in?
Anyone had success negotiating extra points to have the team stay at a hotel for a long term client engagement (e.g., double points for the team)? Trying to negotiate with a Hyatt right now and would love any tips.
Is it wrong to be happy that a deal fell through? I know it sucks for the client and other parties involved but my schedule just opened up.

My therapist just told me I'm depressed..do you ever feel like they tell you things you hear a lot or could have figured out on your own? Like take care of yourself, it's ok to feel such and such, etc. I'm still newer to therapy so wondering if that's the common experience? Do you ever have moments where you're like wow that actually is eye opening and I wouldn't have gotten that from reading self help books and websites etc?

@partners - I have two opportunities. One is to lead a group for a corporation (industry). The other is to join another consulting firm, doing the same work that I am doing now. While the comp will be better to stay in consulting and I do like the idea of becoming a partner one day, I am intrigued with the steady industry role... any advice?
