at the instance I passed my application I already knew that I will be working for the money. If I want a career growth, the reason for that is to earn more so I can save more. It is definitely still about money.
That's normal. It took me 3 switches before I could say that I love what I'm doing. Not gonna lie, my first 3-4 years were also money driven.
I am in it for the money. I am a UXD in big tech. It’s not sexy. It’s hardly that innovative because things are so big and sort of slow… advertising was more innovative.
It’s comfortable, for the most part. Good team; good people. Good work life balance. And good money.
Make sure you’re assessing other dimensions of your career/job/company too like culture etc.
Yes, I also share the same sentiment (4 YOE). I have become accomplished at what I do, but I no longer have the passion I used to have. I really like my team, the pay, relative work life balance and good work culture overall. It's comfortable in tech.
But despite that, I feel like I don't have the fire in the belly to challenge myself and truly enjoy what I'm doing. What I've realized is that there are a lot of really smart and experienced people and there are so many tech initiatives in the industry and one person will not really change much in the big picture. Very few people will make a tremendous impact. Right now, I'm convincing myself to progress along the tech management and leadership path and get more involved in strategy and coordination. Let's see how it goes 🤷
