I feel like I’m done with Public accounting and tax. I don’t necessarily mind the work but I HATE that all I do is sit in front of excel all day. I NEED more human interactions and building relationships. I’m thinking a career in account management would be a good fit for me OR becoming a financial advisor for like Merrill, JP Morgan or something. Would a type of transition like that be feasible for a very outgoing tax person?

Have you considered a different specialty? I'm in SALT and go days without excel.

I actually started in public accounting and then went into industry as it provided more collaborative opportunities. However, I took it one step further and went into recruiting for accounting professionals. Now I get ALL human interaction and hardly use excel. I personally love it as I feel it has way more purpose in giving candidates better opportunities and making improvements to their livelihoods. It was the best decision I ever made. I also get to use my experience from public accounting and industry to connect with similar professionals and understand where they come from.

Salary POV: I recently accepted a position at Oracle Consulting USA (Cloud ERP practice) in their delivery organization as a Director Cloud ERP. I accepted the Salary of $195K and a quarterly bonus of 35%. The hiring manager told me that realistically people get around 10 to 20%. I have 20+ years of experience in EBS, Cloud ERP as an SME as well as PM roles. My question is did I settle for less? Should I have negotiated better? Any inputs from people in similar roles at Oracle or ex-Oracle?

I’m 2 weeks into an account strategy associate job at Google. I’m realizing I don’t want to be in this job long term but everything but the role is great. I turned down an offer to do product strategy manager at a telecom company with less pay/not as great culture but the recruiter said it’s still an option if I’m interested. Role is what I want to do. Should I jump? I’m just scared I’ll be stuck in account management forever but everything about G is great sans role. Also terrified of blacklist

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty

Got covid from the UK , double vaxxed , and symptoms are wildly atrocious. Everyday I have different issues. I went from no fever to 102.4 in a couple of minutes. Blood oxygen dropped dangerously low and bounced back in a few minutes. Chills , cold sweats. My newest one is that my legs are so achey and sore it feels like they were beaten with a bat , just nonstop pain and can’t sleep. Anyone else experience these? Pretty sure I’d be hospitalized at a minimum without the vax
