See Caribbean, Fiji and Suriname Hindus - they have left India around 200 years back but most of them are more religious than many Indian born
Haha. I need to find links. What I wrote above is my first hand experience with Global Indian diaspora. I have visited Caribbean and lived with them. Met quite a few influential Surinamese last year. Have few friends who’re African Indians.
I have an interest in diaspora subjects, so I go around looking for it, but if you’re interested, I would be happy to share my experiences. Stay tuned and I will share something as I find.

I fall into this category and a lot of my friends also practice their faith, traditions and language religiously. It starts at home!
That’s quite the opposite of what I’ve seen.
I’ve noticed that Indians born in the US/ Indian families who have lived here for a couple of decades are far more religious than Indians from India (I say this mostly for those Indians who have lived most of their lives in cities such as Bombay, Delhi, Bangalore).
My American born cousins (in their 20s) do Vedic chanting which is impressive, but unheard of in our generation back home. Lol
What has America born have to do anything with being religious? Somehow being born in America changes your household values?
C1 - why so much aggression bro? Take it easy, or try to get some help on how to stay calm.
Know many teenagers and young adults who are religious and visit temples, all born here to first-gen Indian immigrants. Not uncommon to non-Indians too of similar upbringing.
Nj, Queens, Maryland, Bakersfield, Pittsburgh...
I have a lot of friends who have distanced themselves from religion. They usually go to temple just to appease their parents. But I also have a lot of friends who still practice, maybe you’re just not in the right area?

Not sure how it works for Hindus, but in my experience (Pakistani Muslim) ABCDs tend to be more devout/religious while folks raised back home (myself included) are more on the liberal/secular side of things.
Most Indian Muslims I’ve met (US born and raised or new to the US) tend to be religious and conservative for the most part.
I find that surprising. Most of my friends are religious in at least some capacity
