Going to my first in-person local networking event since covid after work today. I’m worried I forgot how to be a human in public over the past 18 months. Used to be relatively good at working a room (for someone who codes) but it was a skill I worked at for years before the pandemic hit.
Do y’all have any advice?
Have a trip planned to go to Rome next week. Should I cancel even though coronavirus is mainly in the north? Have been really looking forward to this trip, but not sure if it’s irresponsible to go.
Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.
Looking to reward myself for surviving covid and buy a classic/long shelf life/investment worthy bag (eg Chanel classic, chloe etc). Any reco for max $2000?
Check out my new covid side hobby on Instagram @CyberLandscape where I post byte-sized cyber news and analysis to promote security awareness. Would love to hear about any new hobbies you’ve adopted!
What are your thoughts on matriculating in 2021?
Do you think you are better or worse off than you otherwise would be (if it wasn’t for covid)? Any chances to your application plans?
I want to quit so bad. I've saved up enough to last me nearly 2 years of living expenses. I planned to quit in April but then COVID hit and I was advised by all my friends not to. Not sure I can take it anymore. It's not even the work environment, it's the work. Idgaf about financial reporting, audit, risk or compliance. I didn't even major in it.
Anyone’s consulting office too small for all the local consultants? Is that ever an issue? My firm has a small office but we doubled since covid - wondering what’s going to happen when things go back
In times of COVID, has working as a independent consultant been more beneficial or worse for you compared to a having a W2 role?
All these NBA teams privately funding COVID-19 test. Which firm going to privately fund their consultants to get tested first?
Is it a good time to buy a condo in chicago downtown? Considering the CoViD economy, chicago property taxes and low interest rates. My personal finance situation is I have 54k saved up and this includes emergency. I hv a 200k property outside USA, I bought for my parents of which 18k is yet to be paid.
I think Covid-19 basically manifests as pneumonia. See tweet from PA young person who has been impacted.
Trump supporters: will you get the vaccine, or is covid a hoax? Truly interested to hear your thoughts. Genuinely not trolling.
My boyfriend has asked me to look for rings and tell him which styles I would prefer. I looked at some designs and the ones I like are ~4k. Is it a reasonable amount to spend on a ring? ( He makes ~150k). I am not from the US so just trying to gauge if this too much to spend on a ring. ( Traditionally we would be able to go to home country and have an engagement ceremony but are going this route due to covid this year) .
Even without covid, it seems like jobs are getting harder and harder to find. Why is this?
Long story short: last year in Nov 2020 I accept an offer for concentrix but unable to join due to COVID situation and got approval from the reporting manager it was only for a week.
Now recently I got offer for concentrix pune but they are asking to continue with last package which is below the baseline for this process.
When I spoke to the HR he says it's the policy and nothing can be done.
I loved the process but it would be really hard for me with the package.
ANY ADVICE WHAT CAN BE DONE
🐠- Traveling from Spain to France via bus. Do i need a negative COVID test if I am fully vaccinated? Seeing conflicting info online. Please advise.
Thoughts on making senior manager in 7 years? Could be me next year. A very senior partner told me to not do it. That you should try to do an early promotion for every single level except senior manager. He said I’ll be stuck at this level and they tend to let go of senior managers who don’t make partner quickly enough when cuts are needed. Thoughts?
Despite promotions and salary increases, I am never satisfied. I don't quite enjoy what I do, but the money keeps me here. I actually do want to do anything, just travel and ve with my kids.
Struck out on McKinsey & Company final rounds but the feedback was basically good but not good enough. The partner tells me to keep in touch and would love for me to try again next year. Does that mean that he’d be willing to refer me? And how do I keep in touch?
Just saw an investment banking analyst position at Raymond James that I was interested in, would anybody working there be willing to give me a referral? Thanks!
