I feel like it’s impossible to save money, especially with rent taking up ~50% of my paycheck every month. Still want to go out and have fun on weekends tho. Any tips for saving money?

Dude don’t worry. After you are past analyst yrs or get to buyside (that pays properly) you are gucci. Like these loafers I am casually rocking.

If you’re paying 50% of your paycheck in rent, you may one to start off by finding a cheaper place to live. Then, treat your savings as sort of an obligatory expense that you have to pay (to yourself) every month, that way it will be a priority for you to save, and if you still have a good amount of money at the end of the month, you can put more away

I was in the same boat (also as a lev fin analyst). Life gets better once you get promoted. Honestly I was paycheck to paycheck until that point. My advice is live off your salary, bank your bonus, and if possible do some meal prep to save $$$ for lunches or dinners when possible.

You probably are unmarried and don’t Have much outside responsibility. Get a roommate and down scale on rent. I’d never bust 30. And even then I’d like in a shittier place if I was unmarried and pocket the difference. Your ability to cut cost of living drastically ends when you get married. If I made what I make now as I younger guy I would lived in a box and pocketed a pile.

Hi LFA, you’ll have to cut corners somewhere in order to save. Your rent is a fixed cost and will stay as is or even increase. Maybe move back home? Save that rent per month by living at home.

Thanks all. I got an expensive apartment with no roommate which clearly wasn’t the move. Definitely will look for a roommate once lease is up.
