I feel like my manager critique and review my work harsher than my peers (white). He’s been the same manager on these jobs for years. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

If I don’t see potential in staff, I usually end up fixing it for them and making improvements myself. If I think they’ll stick around and be an asset on my teams in the future I give constructive review points.

This made me feel a lot better. I’m a first year and I’ve been addressing the review notes the manager left for the senior and the manager has approved of my corrections/updates, thus far. Here’s to hoping I’m showing potential.

Full disclaimer: he’s very nice and I learn a lot while I’m on his jobs. I complete the work papers, perform self-reviews and they are always in line with his testing approach. I still get a bunch of review questions. My other peers said they don’t get this from him. My problem is I’m doing extra work all the time outside of the other busy season hours to prove myself.

Thank you for the advice! I will keep this in mind going forward.

Are the harsher reviews making you better or worse at your job than your peers?

I’m not sure if I’m performing better than them but I’m learning a lot from it.

It’s really stressful and this job is already stressful enough.

However, the partner was mentioned during the interview as someone I worked with, so I feel scared now that my lateral firm partners are wondering why I didn’t include. You guys have seen me on here before, I have the toxic boss who accused me of having an interview on a day I took for my mental health anyways.
In June we had a meeting, it was big. I told said boss I don’t like how they talk to me xyz. In the meantime between then and things have improved (I also found out I was undermedicating myself for 4 months on anxiety meds)
I get called into the partners office today to discuss my attitude and to write me up for

I’m an autistic, struggling lawyer.

W/o too much detail to avoid identification: Graduated from 2 Ivy Leagues (both college and LS) near the top of my class. Got into a very high ranked firm.

My work meets the expected level and I understand clients’ needs, but I absolutely don’t fit into the office environment. I feel very insecure and anxious, leading me to act weird on occasions.

Should I disclose my autism, and what consequences should I expect?

Opposing Counsel refuses to acknowledge me in any emails, doesn’t answer my phone calls, and does not include my name on the signature line on any documents even though I am the handling attorney on this file. He only includes my supervising attorney and only responds to her. It’s so frustrating. Why are ppl like this?? What can I do? Should I continue to be annoying and email/call him?

I use worked at Crossmedia, they over compensate with perks to hide their lack of organization. The catch is that I am the only one doing all finance, accounting, investor relations... honestly more interested in a new title. I took the job for the experience, not money.
