If you are <6mos new... don't be upset... just do your best on the projects you are given and learn what you can. If you take your learning seriously there will be someone who will find your value and feed you too. In the meantime, enjoy your light workload.
Started in June. Straight out of school so fairly new.
Don't worry about it!
Yep... still too fresh. Busy Season is the time to prove yourself. Strive for perfection and take criticism as a growth opportunity and you will do well
Now is the time to be paying attention. Because these bits and pieces are all crucial to big projects. Once you master all these little pieces it's going to make so much more sense! Right now you're probably like "what am I doing this is so useless", but once you start seeing it as part of the whole project you realize it's all meaningful. So don't be upset, you will get there! Look at everything as a learning experience.
It's understandable. If this continue, I would suggest seeking the opportunity instead of waiting for it to come to you, don't be worried tho, still new and trying to figure out office politics too. Best of luck!
@bdo1 humble brag?
It depends on how you feel about your job. If you like it, I would be upset
I would get upset and concerned. I only don't give staff projects if I think they will screw it up beyond all hope and are useless.
Ive noticed one senior loves giving me work but others push it towards her. It's an off dynamic
Welcome to the world of office politics! Is your group/department cliquey, OP?
I only do that when a staff is too slow or proven to be incompetent time and time again.
How new are you OP
Thanks easing my mind guys!
Thanks! I really try to absorb as much as I can. I felt great during busy season. It's just tough when I'm asked to scan documents or search for files while others get to do client work
For sure network a lot though. I've noticed Deloitte has a lot of cliques. Get in on some..
Office politics/favoritism plays a part. All last year I was on jobs with different seniors/managers for the most part. This year one of those seniors got promoted to a manager now and every engagement I'm on is his. Thankfully he's a great manager and seems to be invested in me (No kool aid)
