Golden goose 😍🤤
In the same situation. Currently taking two months off before starting my new job. Going to travel, rest, relax, plan for the next step so that I’m healthy and happy when I start.
Ugh same girl. Switching firms was a godsend for me, I haven’t been this happy or internally at peace in what feels like forever. You should definitely take a long while to respond to their requests, and when you do, tell them you don’t have the bandwidth to support these activities at this time and suggest they reach out to whoever is now in that role. Be polite but firm. They will try and milk you for all you’re worth, as they’ve clearly showcased - don’t let them.
And even a few weeks later they still are having a negative impact on my happiness (they keep reaching out for various reasons). I just want to be done and they won't just let me be. The professional in me wants to be helpful and leave the past in the past but the hurt part of me wants to just tell them to stop contacting me
I had a team like this and even after I rolled off they kept bugging me with questions. I instituted a 24-36 hour wait rule to reply to questions and within 3 days all questions had magically ceased. 😂
Can you go cold on them? Or send a message asking them to please contact whoever replaced you instead? Also, talk therapy might help, or journaling. Being on a toxic team can be really unhealthy. My anger and bitterness has lingered for 8 months.
I just went through this and they were both dysfunctional and draining while I was there, and then had a hard time letting go. I had to let it fade away, so I got busy in my new assignment and they eventually stopped calling and emailing.
Same thing happened to me. I went to Thailand for three weeks and came back feeling great!!!!
Like a previous employer or a previous role at McK? Suggest going on vacation and be out of pocket for a while and just focus on yourself.
I recently left a role and it is that last one that did a number on me.
Sounds like the same way you get over a breakup!
