I feel like RA is about to see if significant increase in turnover. Anyone else hearing rumblings for co-workers about them possibly leaving ?

My office has had a lot of turnover as well, really understaffed

People get bored with controls testing (even though you only do that for the first couple years). There’s a lot of growth in RA though so why leave?

I’m ready to jump ship. It’s so boring, and my counselor has just told me he’s leaving. I don’t want to get boxed into IA

I feel like my office has been strong recently, last year at this time was pretty crappy though

Not alluding to layoffs. But like someone said people get bored of controls testing and don’t wanna wait it out

In 6 years at the firm in 2 different offices, turnover is cyclical with peaks and troughs in each office.

Agreed I want something different than IA and all I see if ppl moving into IA

PWC 1 what changes in RA after you hit senior/manager and above that makes it more interesting? Also couldn’t most RA (IA or IT audit) transition to performance improvement or risk transformation consulting?

Fa1, yes. Senior and above manage the team and client. That’s a lot more fun to some people as opposed to testing the controls. Plus you can start to see the bigger picture of the firm and how it works as a business (client relationships, selling work), more of a risk role

There are also more interesting projects as you move up - might work xLOS projects, risk based audits instead of just SOX testing. Probably also depends on the size of your market though.

Does anyone have any advice on passing the PHR the first time around?

I am currently doing my full-time internship at a startup where I am getting paid 17$/hr. I will most probably be continuing with them in Fall as a part-time and asked for an upgrade to 25$/hr. I asked for that upgrade because I already have around two years of experience outside of Canada as a social media executive in a multinational company. I am currently doing a masters degree at Concordia so I believe 25$/hr would be more appropriate. Am I aiming too high?

I see a lot of differentiating in post about RIsk Assurance and Risk Advisory. Would someone mind breaking that down by which groups fall into these roles? I am Tech Assurance but also on a rotation where I get exposure to other groups in risk, ie - Internal Audit, GRC and Tech Risk Management. I do like the risk realm, although I would hope to do something more technical in nature and not so much check box. Thanks ahead of time!
