I think you’re fine. Tax SM here and the expectations I have of an A2 that I don’t work with frequently are pretty low. If you can put something halfway coherent together and get me the documents I need I’m happy. I know I’ll have to redo a lot. There are one or two staff/seniors that work with me all the time and I put in effort to make sure we are on the same page and get better. I probably didn’t do that on the first engagement or so with them. Just show you are not an idiot and they’ll staff you again and go from there. Based on your message above, it sounds like you care and that’s really all I’d expect. Take a breath. You’ll be fine.

I do the same thing. Only they know exactly what they want. I just try to get it close so they have something to work with and it goes quicker for them. I’m talking about mainly the written stuff and not like substantive testing

I’m a first year. I just wrote up something that is in the same style as other documentation I’ve looked at, and uses the facts and circumstances of the client for current year. I’m not sure if it’s always like that but I’m glad she’s chill about it. She also doesn’t leave a ton of notes and will just change stuff herself so I go back myself to see what she did so I can learn from the changes she made.

I mean honestly SM should learn how to use you and your ability to help him/her. So if it’s a lot of rework, there’s something that needs to be improved in the way that he/she works as well. First year audit is always hard as no one knows exactly where to draw the boundary for comfort level.

Umm if your work is being directly reviewed by a SM, you're already miles ahead of where you should be...

lol, I guess that’s one way of interpreting it

... has something to do with it. Can anyone speak into this? Is it normal or am I struggling? I got some feedback about busy season that I need to take ownership of my area and work more efficiently, but now I’m really feeling like I’m failing to do that. :/

There’s no manager to serve as buffer at least?

No. It’s a smaller job. Originally it was going to be me and a true senior, but now it’s just two A2s. We are basically seniors of course, but yeah. No buffer

Is a 10% raise pretty good when you get promoted?

What's a feasible % increase for promotions? Looking to be promoted to Sr. Account Manager, and based on my current salary (57k in midwest) and Glassdoor/competitor medians for Sr. Account Manager, a fair salary would be around 22-25% increase (70-72k). Will I need to leave to get that or is that normal for a promotion (not a raise)?

Hi can anyone tell me how is the promotion cycle and performance review in GS ? Like how many years it can take for 3 year experience Analyst joining laterally to be promoted to Associate in Compliance Division.

I’ve been practicing for 6 years in-house at a media company (was a startup when I joined and is now more established), straight out of law school. Due to the small nature of our team (3 legal members), I have been involved in all areas of our business and even advise c-suite frequently about legal risks. I received a promotion, with another title bump on the horizon this year. I have an opportunity to go to a start-up media company as the sole attorney. Anyone else have experience doing this?

Everyone at EY complaining about market adjustments… I don’t know about you but I got a 24% raise last summer (to be fair didn’t go into effect until October)… I don’t know how much more they could/should adjust in a given year. Basically, wondering what the chances are that other firms are playing catch up to us??
