I started working for my company about 6 weeks ago and I was originally hired to work from a specific location closer to my home. I was told the 1st day of my employment that the location âis not ready yetâ and that I would be working out of a temp location further from my home. It has been really inconvenient for me to say the very least and the remote option is unavailable to me until after the probation period which is 6 months. How should I approach having this conversation with my director?

Long distance friendships take a lot of hard work. A LOT. One thing I did to manage mine was to write letters. They change the pacing of the friendship, but they are genuine and typically at least a little heartfelt, which is more than can be said for many text conversations I have with my friends đ also making recurring calendar appointments helps a lot. Serves as an aggressive reminder for all parties
How long will you be gone for? If for more than a year, the harsh reality is that you need to reestablish yourself and make new friends where you live. Active friendships require new memories...if youâre not there, no new memories. You move into passive friendship territory, which is still nice but itâs not that âcloseâ feeling you once had. At least in the American perspective
I have best friends all around the world. I stay in touch by doing a mix of things like planning trips together, Skype / WhatsApp calls, texts / messages / emails to stay abreast with whatâs happening in their lives etc. It depends on which friend and how our relationship has evolved. Some people I speak to all the time, some every other week, some every other month. Some friends, I pick up with where we left off when we are together in the same place again.
