Just received cousin's invite to her wedding and it's on a Sunday. It's not necessarily a destination wedding but is in a city that neither she nor her family, nor her partner's family lives, so everybody has to fly + get hotels. I'm annoyed because I think it's a but disrespectful to your guests to make them all travel and do it on a Sunday so people have to take time off work Monday in order to attend. I know I don't have to attend, but shouldn't it be convenient for guests?
Stuck in india due to delayed visa processing. HR just asked me to either take vacation time or unpaid time off while I wait. Curious to know if anyone in my situation explored any other options ?
EY - ladies, what to wear to the holiday party?!
Everyone and their mama has been raving about air fryers. They said it's a healthier alternative to deep frying. Any recommendations? I want one for my holiday meals. I am currently looking at this one on Macys. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/crux-6.3-quart-digital-touchscreen-electric-air-fryer-created-for-macys?ID=11304871&pla_country=US&CAGPSPN=pla&cm_mmc=Google_SH_PLA_Cookware-_-GS_Cookware_PLA_Crux-_-293719126716-_-pg1050674350_m_kclickid__kenshoo_clickid__KID_EMPTY_1546922786_61770717587_293719126716_aud-37409341359
Anyone else at a shop that makes PTO for creatives a total rat race? Only 9 creatives per day.
On PTO during CRT results time. Don't want PTO spoiled by it, good or bad. Ask partner for it so it's before I leave? Or wait until after 4th of July holiday? 🤔
What can I do if my manager keeps rejecting my pto? The excuse is that “we can’t have two people out at the same time” but the manager has broken this rule so many times.
If I put in my notice right before the holiday weekend, will they ask me to leave that day or should I just wait till we get back?
Anyone else annoyed with the darn holiday cards with everyone's picture perfect families? Dont get me wrong, there are some I genuinely like bc I like them. Some just feel like its rubbing it in. Or all in my head :(
The fact that I received an email on a Sunday from my senior manager asking me to not take PTO that I've earned and reserved MONTHS ago because of poor planning on his part has officially given me the push to start looking for another job. Even the partner said that it's "very important" that I be available those weeks. I'm going on a road trip with my fiancé to get away from work and have a mental break. I have been working at least 60 hours since February, but now I'm officially done.
VC guy in SF running one of their portfolio companies reached out. I straight up said I’m looking for a job. I’ve now got a meeting with him bolted on to my upcoming holiday to the US. How to nail it?
Do you guys prefer to take breaks while staffed on an active study or wait until the study closes and schedule vacation for a week or whatever term between studies?
Need some advice! I'm a recent PhD grad (30 yo) in STEM, and just got some offers from different companies. Particularly, two of them are interesting to me. 1) from a Energy Market Company in Pennsylvania as an Operations Research Scientist, 95k + 15% bonus + very good benefits and generous PTO. It's a very chill job (9-5) with good people but limited opportunity to growth. 2) from a consulting company in NYC as a data science consultant, 130k + 10k signing bonus. Which one you choose? why?
I currently am trying to take two days off, got a mediation statement from OC, naturally I had to read it, and then I emailed the partner offering to do any follow up on the statement tomorrow. Lawyers trying to take time off… what a joke. anyone else have this problem?? Amazingly partner replied enjoy your time off and we’ll circle around Wednesday
The 3 weeks of pto that do not affect utilization are also for USDC? I took a 6 days recently and my utilization went down…
Can anyone from PwC audit practice share the holiday timeline/firm shutdown schedule during December-January? I am about to join the firm but don’t have all the details yet. Planing a trip during Christmas time. Thanks in advance.
Any companies in NY hiring at the moment that sponsors H1B visa? I’n trying to find opportunities while waiting on internal transfer.
How is internal audit compared to external audit? Growth? Salary? Exit opportunities? Hours?
How’s PwC immigration team in terms of new h1 transfer? I have got an offer with PwC but recruiter said that it would 6-8 months in the current trend to get it approved?! Is that lil exaggerated?
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Anyone willing to share experiences on what's it like working for Doordash strategy? How is the working environment, culture, etc?
Anyone here who made the exit from Big 4/MBB consulting to a VC? If so, I’d love to hear about how the experience is so far. (Not to mention the WLB and comp!) I’m considering a career change but have no one in my network I can go to for insights. Thx! 🙏🏾
I personally don’t see value from getting a PMP these days... what’s the push for still getting the PMP?
If my last day is Jan 24th and my new job starts Feb 10th what happens with my health insurance in between? Anything I can do to keep the health insurance or do I have to buy my own until the new job?
What do I put on my resume as experience if I’ve only ever worked for PwC? (Intern, Associate, currently a Senior) Should I break out each level as a separate experience item?
I have an interview for a senior associate role at an investment firm. However, I believe I am under qualified based of my YOE (1.5) because they are asking for a minimum of 3. Should I mention I am open to an associate role, or try to sell myself for the senior role? Thanks for the help!
Any thoughts on very small private boutique consulting firms? Does this ruin my chances of a career opportunities afterwards? I’m interviewing with a company with 30 employees and I am worried I am digging myself a grave.
If you live in NYC now but plan to move out eventually does it make sense to pick pre-tax 401k over a Roth 401k?
Is it advisable to withdraw from 401K savings? In a financial difficulty & trying to assess options where I don't have to ask friends/family. I'm an international, so tax implications vary.
