I finally hit 100k net worth. That is all. I know many have so much more but feels like a big accomplishment to me.

Do you have an emergency fund? If not, calculate 8-12 months of expenses and transfer that cash into a savings account. The rest should go into a brokerage account. Find a few low-fee ETFs and distribute the cash among those funds. Look up three-fund portfolios for some ideas. If it makes you nervous to invest all of that money at once, you can DCA it (dollar-cost average), where you invest a fixed amount at regular intervals (say, $10K/month for the next several months) regardless of market conditions.

This ☝🏻 That first 100k is tough. Congratulations. Keep grinding!

like

Congratulations OP. What all component does your net worth includes ?

like

I have never heard Social Security included. Definitely retirement accounts

not anymore you aren't. you lose money everyday with inflation and the trillions being pumped in.

keep an emergency fund, and invest the rest - index funds, etc.

@D12:. I like keeping 6 months of living expenses in cash. Others will make a different assessment. The point is that you should know your monthly out of pocket, and keep some multiple of that.

Congrats OP. Always celebrate the small wins which will ultimately lead to bigger one. Keep it up!

C4. I’m totally right there with you. I’m not belittle that milestone. Just congratulating OP to keep it up so he can reach 10x or 100x that in the ear future. Agreed I’m probably on me if the educated people with the neg net worth 😂

First 100k is a bitch so I’m told. I finally hit 100k last year and am already >150k. Your portfolio gains become material and your daily cost of living becomes less significant. Make sure you keep your fixed costs low and keep hustling!

like

Income has gone up, portfolio has gained and ive been able to save a lot of money during covid by not going out.

like

Congrats OP! Keep doing what you do and maximize your 401k, investments, etc. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly the next few $100K will come!

like

This for sure. 100k took like 5 years for me, then 200k another 2, 300k was 1.5 years later. Income + gains really start rolling and those numbers you calculate you need for retirement get more reasonable.

Just hit a net worth (not including 401k) of zero from over -50k from start of last year. Covid has been kind financially

Well done! Don't trivialize that accomplishment. Sounds like you're making smart moves so keep doing that.

Congratulations!!!!! I am hoping to get there soon!!

I'm at -70k. Only 170k to go!

I’m also 26 and hit 100K in March 🤗 now around 120. Feels great especially since my first several years of work I blew all my money trying to survive in NYC lol.

If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?

You’ve successfully withdrawn funds using a hedge. You’re welcome.
