I finally hit $400k. Congratulations to all of you hitting new milestones in this insane market. Hopefully, I’ll reach my $500k milestone before the end of this year.

Nice work. It’s a great feeling isn’t it?

A 6% run in a couple weeks is fantastic, but it tells you you have some hi-volatility positions in your portfolio. Maybe take SOME profits there. I was up a decent through the first 6 weeks of this year and half that back by the end of Feb. I’ve almost back to that same high now, but I regularly trim positions and have been raising cash for the next pullback.

You can see lots of other posts around here where people were up big until mid-Feb and lost most those gains. Don’t sell all those hi-vola positions. Just SOME - like 25bp of your total portfolio value from each position that’s up more than 10% this month. You can use a different rule if you like, but a small adjustment like that has a decent impact on performance in the next pullback and sets you up sell to buy in the next correction.

It is! I have some positions that are short term and I’m definitely sticking to my plan to exit out of those.

How tf do you have no liabilities? Not even a CC?

I rent, paid for my car in cash, received scholarship for college and my parents paid for my living during college. My liabilities are related to my credit cards, but I pay that in it’s entirety each month with the bill.

Congrats OP!!

Thank you.

Nice! What’s the breakdown?

It’s my EY pension plan A cash balance. So at EY we have a pension plan A and plan B. It specifically tells you what plan A is worth if I were to leave now. I update that monthly, since I don’t know how to link it. We have a plan B too, but it only tells me how much I would receive when I retire. I’m too lazy to figure out the cash value now.

How old are you tho

goals!! I’m 25 NW ~$85k. how can I 3-4x my money in a couple years?

How did you save so much?

Way to go!! I unfortunately burn myself out frequently. It’s a give and take. I’m hoping to leave PA to have more time and higher pay.

What do you do outside your EY work?

Not clothes. Mostly electronics, furniture and Legos

Would you mind sharing your salary progression?

Financial goal

Wow, it’s really amazing you saved this much on this base

Unfortunately no.

During my 9 years working with PR agencies, writing/editing has been the least favorite part of my job.

I’m good at managing clients, strategising, managing influencers, and media relations and I’m thinking of making a job/career change but not sure where to start.

What positions (agency or client side) require less writing and more managing/strategising.

Moms, did having daycare at your gym help you to go more often? Did the environment help?

Hubby thinks that we can workout at home (peloton, weight bench, online classes, jogging stroller) or in our community gym & pool. But I'm excited to join a local sports club with lots of amenities (classes, squash, tennis, swim) and 2.5 hrs daycare / day.
I'm remote so getting out of the house occasionally would be nice, plus give baby some exposure. Baby will start full time 9-4 daycare soon though.

Do you typically work on holidays? This year I had to work a bit on Thanksgiving because we had an event. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though.

I’m starting as a Junior at a new firm and, in addition to the home office set up they provide, they also give a $500 IT stipend. Does this typically cover desks? And do stipends typically get disbursed as a $500 check or they reimburse specific purchases? And if it’s the latter, would they cover purchases made before the start date?

I’ve already asked HR a lot of questions and I don’t want to keep pestering them to avoid a rep for being that annoying associate before I even start lol. Thx!

I’ve been holding myself to wait until winter to look for a house purchase. Heard the house prices go up in summer due to ppl relocate for schools. Is that true? Any advices ? (Dallas neighborhoods)

Figured I might get better responses from a financial perspective on this bowl.

Not going to get into details, but I have tons of debt (some medical from family) that are weighing heavily on me.

Out of curiosity what age were you and what was your total compensation when you first was able to max (IRS limit of $20,500) your 401k? Not just max your match, but match the $20,500.

Was considering buying a second home but due to personal circumstances decided to not buy it until later this year or sometime next year... I would like to invest roughly $30k in something that's not too risky. I just want my money to grow without much risk.

Got any recommendations on any low risk investments? And which platform should I use? Charles Schwab or Robinhood or both?

Do you manage cash via % ("I want 15% cash) or absolute amount (I want 15K cash). I used to use %, but as my total assets increase it seems like absolute amount may work better

Hi investment fish. Looking for advice on best financial advisors or personal wealth managers in Chicago area. I'm switching jobs soon and also approaching $1M in net worth. Wanted a good advisor for things like 410k roll overs, tax/ retirement planning, etc. Been managing it all on my own until now and it's getting to be a lot. I know there's fee models like flat rate or % of $$ managed but little else beyond that. Thanks in advance!

We (DINK, GI $180k) are receiving $100k cash from an inheritance partial distribution soon. We have the following debt (interest rate): mortgage (2.8%), $35k student loans (6-7%), and $1k car loan (3%). The lease on our SUV will be up soon, and we will purchase it ($18k). We want to buy a bigger house in the next few years - $350k absolute max (LCOL). WE have not contributed to our IRAs for 2021 or 2022. We also don’t have ibonds. What would you do with the $100k if you were me?

Do you think rent for houses and apartments will ever become generally more expensive than mortgages? Why or why not?
