I finished interviews with multiple (6) people yesterday. I asked the HR recruiter for their email addresses to send out thank you emails and she responded for me to send her the note which she would share with the team.
Should I write a single general thank you email addressed to all, or six customized emails to each interviewer?

I’ve sent very customized, detailed emails and don’t seem to make such a difference. To me, they’re a waste of time. If you ace the interviews and majority of the people were fans of yours, then that’s what will land you the job.

likehelpful

I think there's an in between option that's just one note to the team but mentions/recalls a few details that will resonate with different individuals. That way don't have to find a way to make different for everyone but also isn't boring/boiler plate thank you

like

Customized would be nice . Sometimes it’s frustrating getting a blanket email esp if it’s them not being moved further in the interview process . I’m moreso suggesting it as a “good deed” type thing versus a “should”

Customized TY notes are very nice and going a step above what's expected. So you can take either approach; depends how well you connected with the interviewers (i.e., is it going to be hard to write since individualized notes?)

Customized notes for each interviewer. Otherwise, you’ll sound like a generically generated email. Like the rejection letters recruiters send out to candidates.

I'd do 1 general email maybe with 1 specific sentences for each interviewer

One single email with a line addressing each person.

I know that Google often lowballs nowadays unless you can show a competing offer, preferably from another FAANG. I am in the middle of interviews at Google and a recruiter from Facebook reached out. Trying to decide if I should try and get an offer from them for leverage. Does anyone know whether Facebook will send over the offer in email form before I verbally accept? I know some companies refuse to put anything in writing unless you verbally accept.

"why are you looking for a new role?"

What's the point of this question?

We ask our candidates this and I don't really care what the answer is. It seems like we're asking the candidate to lie to us. The real answer is always unflattering.

"I would like better compensation or better working conditions"

"I was fired from my previous job"

"I don't like my manager"

"I have disagreements with management"

All terrible answers. And any "good" answers come across as fake to me.

I've been working at a government agency for 6 months, helping to stand up a new team. The job involves interacting with real estate developers. One of the developers reached out to recruit me for a similar position that will pay more than $50k my current salary. I feel guilty, especially since I'd interact with my current team on the other side. It's a hard to turn down that salary, though I feel guilty since my team is thin, and it's only been 6 months!

Any tips on navigating this situation?
