I finished my bachelors as a mech. engineer but switched into a data analyst job for a consulting company. The pay is great and the career outlooks as well. But I also got an offer for a mechanical engineer job in the US which is a great opportunity as I‘m based in europe and in my early twenties. The commitment for the job would be nearly 1.5 years and I still plan on doing my masters. Now I‘m asking myself whether to stay in Data/ Go to the US/ or finish my education first. What would you do?

Ultimately, you’ll have to make the decision on your own, and I’m sure there are more factors than laid out here. However, it’s never a bad idea to invest in yourself(education) for the long term. Sounds like a positive fork in the road. Good luck!

A career in data has way more upside in terms of salary growth and job outlook. There are more job openings for data roles than mech engineers. But it ultimately depends on which one are you more passionate about and which one are you better at?

The last 1.5 years has been insane in transactional big law. Every day an article talks about the insane lateral market and how in demand associates are. Why are big law associates so willing to bill 2200+ without asking for other standard non-cash comp focused benefits that similarly in demand professionals receive in comparable industries (e.g., banking, medicine) like protected Saturdays, 401(k) matching, and true equity partnership tracks that are not illusory and that are <10 years, etc.?

My friend has a L1a issued in 2018 valid until 2023 with blanket. The I-129 expired April 2021. Fragomen filed the extension of I-129 petition in March in Texas USCiS center. Fragomen adviced that she can stay in the US legally working 240 days since the receipt of the case (March). Do you know what happens next if USCIS does not process the I-129 on time (e.g December)? Anyone in the same boat with Fragomen? Is travel required to renew the I-129?

I have to join in TCS on January 4th however I'm not interested to join TCS due to some bgv issue with one of my previous employer.

I would like to drop an email to them for not joining TCS for some reason and I'm asking everyone, is there any kind of template kind of email available to decline the offer politely.

Hey folks, appreciate your insights on the following situation: I’ve received 2 offers from different companies. One is a direct competitor of my current employer (offer still in negotiation) , the other isn’t (offer already accepted). As I have a long notice period (4 months) I’ve already resigned and said that I’m joining a competitor as chances are high. They now have decided to send me on garden leave. What if I eventually decide to go for the non-competitor company? 😅

Got myself 100s of interviews and also got my clients many interviews, even with FAANG. College grads ask me for reviews all the time and now I want to charge for it. $20? $50? What’s a good rate?
